Indianapolis is a great place to visit for a long weekend, and areas like downtown Carmel are great for walkable, neighborhood-centric home base for raising a family. There aren't many nomads here. You move here if you want to raise a family while keeping up a lifestyle where you travel for a few months a year. There are good schools, the cost of living is cheap, the food and drink scene are great, and biking is fantastic. Source: Indy native who moved to Carmel, Indiana while getting throug

We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. Not too expensive (~$2100 for a nice 2 bedroom apt) for the U.S. Has wineries and breweries galore. Not a great place if you are a recovering alcoholic (!). Cons: extremely hot in the summer; reaches 110 F (43.3 C) in summer afternoons from June - September. Not very diverse. Highways are loud and obnoxious.

It is the capital of the state, the largest city in New England, and the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The city proper is home to about 617,900 people, making it the largest city in New England and the 26th largest in the United States.

There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.

It's extremely overpriced for what it offers. Did not find the locals nearly as friendly as sources say. Food is very meh. Grocery stores are disorganized and everything close to expiry. You will have to beg and compete to find a dump of an apartment for under $2,000 euro/month. Maybe quality of life is better in the suburbs, but the city centre and surrounding area is not an attractive place to live. Overall, just avoid. For a similar price, you

There are a lot of issues where foreigners like myself are driving up the rent and we are solely blamed for this. The larger issue here is the Portuguese government is not using these tourism dollars towards their people. Everything works, beautiful greenery (hehe), cycling everywhere, happy people, great nightlife... Lots to love about. For nomads? Not a chance. Price of housing is outrageous, and the city is expensive af. They charge you 4.5-5 eur for a capuccino, completely shameless. An hour of public transport is 3 euros. I could go on and on. Yes, it is expensive, but after a while I learned about affordable places to eat and realized I could choose neighborhoods farther from city center, and it would still be nice. City feels super safe, even at nigh! Internet is crazy fast (I got 500mb on my airbnb) there are tons to do and see and I did not encounter the super rude Parisians people talk so much about, mostly everyone spoke English and were very polite. It's actually a small town for old and rich people. The flair is not international, but terribly German-conservative. There is neither an interesting start-up nor a tech community. Many people are unfriendly when you speak English. The leisure activities outside Munich (nature) are nice, unfortunately there is not much going on in the city compared to London, Berlin or Barcelona.
