Iโm assuming a lot of people on here are also members of #nomads. Iโve considered joining, but Iโm curious about what value you get out of it, how itโs been useful, etc.
Note: Iโm certainly not trying to ask โis it worth itโ or undercut itsโ value in any way โ Iโm mostly curious about how itโs useful and trying to figure out if it would be a good fit for me, and figure other people might benefit from that discussion as well 
Great question, I was wondering this too.
I donโt start traveling until next month, so I was thinking of joining the chat once I get more on the road. Just another way to stay connected and have more real-time communication with people in the same location.
Iโd say the amount of knowledge to help you plan your trip makes it worth joining before you leave vs once youโre on the road.

Without it, you still have access to loads of free data on https://nomadlist.com itself, this forum, http://reddit.com/r/digitalnomads, http://wikitravel.org and the thousands of blogs by digital nomads.
I donโt think you need it necessarily, itโs just another little help to get to know more people. Especially if youโre in one of the more popular destinations. You can do that on this forum too though.
Itโs also the only way I monetize Nomad List, this forum, etc. so itโs a way to contribute to the development and upkeep.
Iโll convert everything slowly into a Nomad List membership where all #nomads users will be grandfathered in (so if youโre already a user there, itโll be okay). And thatโll give you full access to the forum, chat, and more site features. Forum posting might be limited to only members then. That helps with monetization and also keeps spam down.
With any community I think you get out what you put in.
In my โnomadicโ travels over the last year, maybe only 5% of the people Iโve met have been because of the Slack chat. Its been more likely that Iโve randomly met people who happen to be on there, or at least know about it. If you have a lot of questions about nomad-related things (BACKPACKS!!! TAXES!!) then I could see the value of getting group opinions, but as its a chat, questions get lost fast, which is why this forum is a better place to ask them.
Iโm might be slightly opinionated, because iโm one of admins. But here goes nothing:
Not mentioning, that now i have a lot of friends from different countries and we occasionally bump in into each other in different places.
Iโve connected with awesome people who understand my lifestyle and can provide great knowledge and support when I need it.

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.
It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

What are the best places right now in the Caribbean/LatAM? (Also cheapest flights/accommodation?) Asking from the US.
As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?
I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Has anyone figured out a way to get setup with a virtual number and internet connection anywhere you go?
Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!
