I loved it. Friendly people and the hotel was very accommodating. However, try and keep your eyes wide open for propaganda. Everyone likes to sell the country as the best place on earth. Giving the current climate, just make the best decisions for yourself. Not hating on Beijing. Amazing time.

A dystopian cyberpunk metropolis, a veritable Night City, both chaotic and well run, livable yet poisonous. Follow the classic advice: stay near the BTS, skyscraper condo, work from mall libraries, cafes, and commons, donโ€™t be outside. Outsource your chores. On a western salary or with savings, youโ€™ll be playing life on easy mode. Focus your energy on meeting people, honing your body, and learning new skills. Thereโ€™s a reason itโ€™s number 1. You can disagree, but try to find it.

It's a fantastic spot for kitesurfing nomads within the season: you can kitesurf on the windy side of the island or go to the White Beach where the wind doesn't reach and chill on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It's a small island, so expect to start bumping into people you know after a couple of days, but it's got enough to offer to keep you entertained for a couple of weeks, and if you kitesurf even longer. There are some apartment with internet speed allowing you to work fr

I lived in Beijing for almost 3 years from 2014-2017. It's an incredible city with a lot to offer. It's an imposing place and not the most welcoming, but that's because it takes time to adjust. In a nutshell: beautiful parks, very modern infrastructure , friendly people, good transportation (the subway is FAR superior to London or NYC, for example), amazing food, relatively cheap, extremely safe, loads to do, incredible history. The one major con is the air pollutionโ€”it can get really bad, so

Stayed for 2 weeks after almost a year n a half in LatAm. Beautiful city; great food options- especially for Asian food lovers. Plenty of authentic Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese options for about 50% of what you would pay in a Western city. Decent hostels will cost $11-$15 weekdays and between $18-$30 on weekends.... Good internet; beautiful architecture and people but it is true Hungarians can be very cold at times. Overall a good stay with many destinations just a quick and cheap flight/tr

Lived in Prague for 8 years. It's a beautiful international European city. Never learned Czech, but was fine. Almost all cafes and restaurants have English menus. Superb food delivery apps (Wolt is the best). All the food you can imagine. Vietnamese food is world-class because of the huge Vietnamese population. If you want hipster bars and cafes, there's plenty of that. If you want old-world-charm there's plenty of that. If you want posh luxury there's some of Europes best restaurants and cockta
