One of the most horrendous cities I've ever been to. Too much traffic, ugly architecture and even the food is very much hit and miss. Oh and housing is not that cheap. People can range from very friendly to very much not caring but on average, they're neither unfriendly nor easy to connect with, even if you speak good Spanish. More than anything, from someone used to the lively vibe in Colombia or Mexico, the place is as lively as a cemetery. No music, not even a peep at night... There's a reaso

I just loved Medellin. I planned to stay 4 weeks, but I stayed 8 weeks. First, the weather: always comfortable, not too hot not too cold. You do not need air conditioning, you can sleep with the window open (no mosquitoes or flies because of the bats). Second, for a North American, everything is very cheap; food, lodging, transportation (Uber and taxis are so inexpensive you should not bother with the very clean subway or the buses). Then the fun life; every neighborhood has some kind of nigh en

I lived in Santiago for a year and I can confidently say that it is THE most boring place Iยดve ever been to. Itยดs super expensive, the air quality is very bad, terrible food (I canยดt stress that enough) and very boring and welcoming people. I don't see any reason why anybody would go there as an expat or digital nomad, tbh.

There are plenty of coffee shops and restaurants where it's normal for people to go with their computers! We have seen people working/have worked in many places around the city including Donde Gopal (vegetarian restaurant), Tandana (vegan restaurant) and cafes like Jaru. Quito is a beautiful city but I do not walk around here at night.
