I grew up in Chicago and still return fairly often. I love the character of the different neighborhoods, the variety of architectural styles, and as others have said, the food scene is incredible. It's easy to make friends in the suburbs, perhaps not so much in the city itself. I have never witnessed racial tension here, and have been pleasantly surprised by the interracial friendliness I have observed. There are a wonderful selection of forests and parks just about everywhere, and the museu

Living in Bangkok since 2015, I refused to go to Phuket longer than I could. I strongly believed in rumors that Phuket was all about prostitution and dirty beaches... oh, how I was wrong! Phuket is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I’d say you can find the same conveniences you’re used in Bangkok, but with a beach - actually many of them, ofter pristine and desert if you rent a motorbike and explore by yourself. Forget about Patong and go to Karon, Surin, Kattatani, Paradise and Freedom Beach instead... you’

I guess if you're a nomad this doesn't matter much, but the long-term job pickings here are slim and among the most underpaid for a US city. There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.

I have only been to a couple of digital nomad spots around the world, but I must say I have been disappointed with PDC for several reasons. I am a coworking space kind of girl and even though there are a few here, they are all not great. Especially if you compare them to the spaces in Bali Canggu/Ubud for example. In PDC it was all about choosing the lesser „evil“ for me. They are okay, but I didn‘t feel the same community vibes or very inspired in these places. The choices of healthy foo

All in, Austin is a good city. We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. Not too expensive (~$2100 for a nice 2 bedroom apt) for the U.S. Has wineries and breweries galore. Not a great place if you are a recovering alcoholic (!). Cons: extremely hot in the summer; reaches 110 F (43.3 C) in summer afternoons from June - September. Not very diverse. Highways are loud and obnoxious.

Its time to make a review about my hometown. I lived many years in Sofia and Varna, so you can trust my review as a Bulgarian who lived in longterm in Vietnam, Germany, Thailand, Spain etc... 1. Bulgaria is amazing in the Summer. (Varna!) Sofia is not. Will get boring super fast. 2. Life is a lot cheaper as listed here. 3. 90% of Bulgarians are racists and hate GAY people. Lesbians are tolerated. 4. Food is amazing and cheap 5. Its dirty and poluted 6. People will try scam you (not only forei

Medellin is a very nice place! Good options of restaurants, hotels and places to hangout. En EL Poblado you have a good variety of bars and places to hangout. At Medellin i worked from the hotel and from a famous shopping mall (EL TESORO) witch has dedicated places, with very good structure os desks, chairs and wi fi for digital nomads (Nómadas Espacio de Coworking).

  • Austin

All in, Austin is a good city. We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. Not too expensive (~$2100 for a nice 2 bedroom apt) for the U.S. Has wineries and breweries galore. Not a great place if you are a recovering alcoholic (!). Cons: extremely hot in the summer; reaches 110 F (43.3 C) in summer afternoons from June - September. Not very diverse. Highways are loud and obnoxious.

Forget about Patong and go to Karon, Surin, Kattatani, Paradise and Freedom Beach instead... you’
