What's a good and warm place in April to surf with fast internet?

by @jakegibson |  | 9 comments

I landed a remote job that is fully remote with only one team skype meeting a week. Iโ€™m looking to leave around March 13th and stay 1 - 3 months in each place. The first place I want somewhere that is warm with good surf. For the group video chat I need at least 5/2 down/up reliable internet. Any recommendations for a place that meets that end of March - April?

Iโ€™ve read through the forums / nomads list. Iโ€™ve already done Costa Rica and Indo and would like to try somewhere new. Currently looking at Sayuliata Mexico, Canary Islands, and Morocco though I think Iโ€™ll wait on the second two since they sound like they are better in the fall.

Thanks!

Any other outdoor enthusiasts / adventurers like to meet up? (Central America & South Africa)

in South Africa by @jakegibson |  | 0 comments

Till November I have a house in Costa Rica with extra beds. Learning to surf but interested doing some climbing, rafting, hiking.

After November mostly likely Cape Town South Africa for a few months, getting my pilots license but also interested in motorcycle tours, surfing, anything else outdoors.

After that will be looking for a sailing adventureโ€ฆ

I already watch meetup, but am always looking outdoor enthusiasts who are up for more than the casual hike. Anyone in those areas want to plan something? Or do you have a site besides meetup you use?

Introduce yourself โ€” who are you, where are you and what do you do?

by @coffeeshopceo |  | 672 comments

tl;dr: introduce yourself in this thread.

We must all get sick of the same backpacker travel questions when we meet new friends, I know I do.

You know the ones - where are you from, whereโ€™ve you been, where are you going, what do you do, how long have you been doing it - etc.

The novelty of answering these questions wears off after maybe a week, but theyโ€™re nonetheless insightful and no matter how much we hate them, we find ourselves asking others.

So letโ€™s bring the dreaded backpacker questionnaire to NomadForum and introduce ourselves shall we?

**

  • whatโ€™s your name?
  • where are you from?
  • how long have you been away from home?
  • what do you do?
  • where are you currently?
  • where are you going?
  • what has been memorable for you so far?
  • will you go home anytime soon?
  • what have you learnt during your time as a nomad?
  • [insert your own question here]

**

No need to answer them all if you donโ€™t want to
But the more you shareโ€ฆ The merrier!

Would you like a coworking & coliving space in Panama?

in Panama by @oricoh |  | 15 comments

Hi everybody,
We are at the beginning of a very interesting journey to eventually establish work spaces and accommodation in Panama.
But before we start, weโ€™d love to figure out how Panama is perceived by you, US time zone and currency are any advantages ? Would you prefer more urbanic or beachfront locations ?
All feedback will be highly appreciated.
Cheers =)

Do you know a small surf town with internet in Mexico?

in Mexico by @nicrose8 |  | 18 comments

I am currently in Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico with my visa but am ready to move. I need internet and would really like surfing and mountain biking to be part of the community I move to.

Does anyone have location suggestions or experience in San Blas, Nayarit; Saladita, Guerrero; or Nexpa, Michoacan? Thanks

Is Panama a good destination for tax residency for digital nomads?

in Panama by @anonym |  | 23 comments

Iโ€™m from Europe and is looking for a country where I can declare my residency, mostly for tax purposes. Panama seems to fit everything. The plan is:

  • Get permanent residency using โ€œFriendly Nations Visaโ€
  • Create a company and get a work permit
  • Get clients to pay me in that company

Since Panama has territorial tax, all income earned outside Panama has zero taxation.

Is it just that good or is there some hidden catch? I live in a Scandinavian country and they just hate to let people go. Will there be problems in paradise?

The plan is to visit Panama once a year and after five years get a passport.

Who is planning to visit Croatia in 2016?

in Croatia by @tomislavmamic |  | 8 comments

There was a bunch of nomads visiting Croatia this year, and many said they might return again. I was wondering who else has Croatia in their plans or a wish list for the next year?

Honestly, this is an awesome place to be if you're actually trying to get work done. It's a bit of an older vibe than Canggu, and there's certainly a big chunk of yogi's kicking around โ€” but I liked it much better than Canggu and found it less pretentious. Plus, you can drive down there in 45mins whenever you want some beach or party vibes. I spent one year in Istanbul and it's absolutely amazing. The city is really safe, I went back home really late during the night, walking, without any problem. Parties are really fun and there are all kinds of spots to have fun (bars, nightclubs, restaurants...). The city has a lot of cafรฉs to work at and most of them have free and reliable wifi. The weather was excellent for 90% of my time there (September) and the city is beautiful, with easy access to much of the Adriatic portion of Croatia and the islands.
