The first visit was last year before Sayulita, this being the second time for a little longer. Of all the places I've been to that have taken me by surprise, Columbia, Missouri is magical because of the people and the nature, and the people. I've heard that a place is what you make of it. And maybe, in this case, like attracts like because I've met only the most open, warmest of people. Strolling the forests is beautiful. At the time I was there, it was sunny one day and suddenly snowing the next. Nevertheless, even in the snow, the days were lovely and the walks made me feel grateful to be alive. |

Wow, I definitely have A LOT to say about LA so I will try to keep it brief. Firstly I thought I would only stay a month while sorting out my visa... but of course as life has it, I stayed much longer! I hear that LA has a way of doing that :) In short, LA can be tailormade to be everything one wants LA to be. With the beaches, the hills, the plethora of music, art, history, events and overall vibes, it's impossible to be bored. Every day there is something to do. I was even surprised to find a packed club pumping excellent house/techno on a Tuesday night, followed by an after-hours joint. How do people sleep?... or do they sleep?! Apart from the nightlife & party scene, I loved visiting both Getty museums as well as the county of arts. If you're into hikes, my favourite was the hike around the Griffith Observatory... the hike around the Hollywood sign wasn't too bad either. I didn't think much of Venice Beach. It gets crowded in the day and sketchy at night, but strolling the mini Venice Canal and down to Santa Monica is lovely. One night I found myself in an AfterBurn! That was super fun! For book lovers, hang out at the Last Bookstore. Also, there are tons of rooftops for a chilled evening with a view. Sadly they were the only places I liked in downtown LA. The problem is coming out into the streets after a magical day and dealing with the homeless and druggies. It's tiring and unnerving as a solo woman traveller. I do my best to be polite but they can be pushy and loud, never aggressive but persistent. It's heartbreaking to see, so if you're like me who won't completely ignore them, make sure you have enough spare change to give freely whenever you are around. It's the very least that we can do. It's a little expensive, but if you have the chance to rent a car to roam outside of LA, do it. I had an excellent time with a rented economy car for a week exploring towns and areas nearby. Favourite drive - down the coast of Highway 1. Favourite national park - Sequoia. Like any city, LA is expensive. Generally, people are helpful and friendly, while also being flaky... and the ghosting culture is beyond ridiculous. But there are a lot of Facebook groups to join and LA is very international, so eventually you will find a tribe that you can rock with and stay forever friends. |

This city is not for everyone, if you like shopping malls and big crowded cities it is for you. It may be cheap but if you want to live in a good location with swimming pool, go to nice rooftops and restaurants, use taxis then it is similar cost to western countries. In many areas there are no sidewalks, big and dangerous traffic all the time, pollution, taxis do not want to go with meter, it can get really hot. Definitely try to live by the metro. I don't know exactly how Barcelona is still considered safe but it's far from it. It's probably the most dangerous city to live in Madrid and one of the most dangerous in europe, with constant pick-pocketing and even violent crimes to get your wallet and phone in certain areas. If you like a peaceful life, Barcelona is not the place anymore!!

Decent city, mainly because the people are so kind. But, it is a pain to get cash (spent a few hours every couple weeks trying Western Union after WU and never finding one with enough cash), and a lot of places don't take cards/the current exchange rate is a ripoff. However, BRING REPELLENT. The place is littered with mosquitos, and my partner and I both contracted dengue. He ended up in the hospital, and it was not a blast. Stayed here for about a month. Queretaro is a great foodie place, and you'll enjoy the old colonial city and a view of the aqueduct. The weather is favorable, safety is high, middle class majority and also very walkable. But aside from that, it can get really boring like a mexican suburbia. It is like a watered-down version of mexican culture.

Old San Juan's architecture is lovely. Although it's as pricey as a US mainland city, the food is good and the coffee is excellent. Locals can vary in friendliness quite a bit -- although being brusque with someone from the US mainland is entirely understandable. Uber works perfectly well. The museums have very inexpensive admissions fees. All in all, a good destination for a shorter (3 weeks or less) trip. But not a place with a digital nomad community or lots of cultural activities.

This island is wonderful ! I was there for a month and I fell in love with Curaรงao. Just to rectify : The tap water is incredibly good to drink !! Anywhere you go you can drink tap water, even once I was in Daaibooi Beach which is 30 km away from the main city and I asked the guy at the snack bar to fill my bottle and the water was as nice as downtown !! Bocas del Toro is an awesome place to come and work at. There are different places to stay and work in Bocas del Toro, throughout the archipelago that offer different experiences.
