Best coworking space in Medellin?

in Medellรญn, Colombia by @adele | 5yr  | 6 comments

Hi there,

Iโ€™m considering a month or two in Medellin and wondered what the co-working space options are like. I want something more than a cafe, so happy to pay the going rate. I spent a couple of months at Hubud in Bali earlier this year and loved it, but realise that Iโ€™ve set the bar pretty high.

Has anyone used Epicenter? I read somewhere it is pretty busy. Any other options?

Suggestions much appreciated.

Iโ€™ve used NODO (nodo.space), it suited my needs just fine. Internet was fast enough for video calls without fail, and the people were very friendly.

I realize this is way after the question was asked, but in case anyone is searching for coworking spaces nowโ€ฆ

Iโ€™ve tried Epicenter and itโ€™s fine, but felt a little too sterile for my liking.

Have just discovered a newish one that I love, http://www.siembracoworking.com/, which is on Calle 10 in Poblado, so it couldnโ€™t be more central (depends where you live though, of courseโ€ฆ)

Anyway, super friendly staff, free coffee and they put on lots of cool events like language exchanges, pub quizzes etc. Very reasonably priced as well.

I just got to Medellin, and Iโ€™ve been going to Epicentro this week. I really like it. Iโ€™ve used several coworking spaces in the U.S., and itโ€™s pretty comparable. You get a hot desk that you can safely leave your things at all day. The people there are friendly too (although I didnโ€™t speak to others much as my Spanish is limited).

From what I can tell 9010 doesnโ€™t exist (or at least their website is not live anymore).

Iโ€™m moving out of Poblado this weekend and over to Laureles, where there arenโ€™t as many coworking spaces. Will be checking out this place: http://www.ondasmedellin.com/coworking/

You need to find a place close to where you are living. My place has decent internet and there is a outdoor cafe and museum 3 blocks away that I have been hanging out in. Planning on trying here this week http://coworking.laneros.com/

A friend of mine writes for Medellin Living and he reviewed this place: http://www.medellinliving.com/9010-coworking-space/. I worked from home while I was in Medellin, so havenโ€™t personally experienced it. Good luck!

Atom house is another. I worked out of my company office when I lived in Medellin so I was only there for a meetup, but people seem to like it. It will not compare to what you experienced in Bali.

Is there any good and safe coworking space with fast internet in Costa Rica?

in Costa Rica by @sven | 2yr 1 year ago | 7 comments

Everything is in the title.

Iโ€™m working on a big project so I will need fast internet (>15 mbps).
If itโ€™s close to the beach, it would be even better.

Thanks !!

Would you recommend โ€œWork Zoneโ€ http://www.oficinasplaya.com over Nest?
Do you have other coworking spaces there you would recommend?

And where is a good place to stay (i.e. coliving)?

Foreigner owned Coworking business in Malaysia

in Malaysia by @newyam | 2yr 1 year ago | 0 comments

Heyo folks! The idea to open up an own coworking space in Malaysia has been on my mind for quite a while and I would like to reach out on foreigners being a business owner/co working space owner in Malaysia, there are a lot of questions that would follow up but most importantly is to reach out to someone with experience.

Ideally would be someone who runs a coworking space in Malaysia, second best would be to just come in touch with a foreign business owner in Malaysia.
Cheers
Yamin

Which coworking spaces are open 24/7?

by @yako | 2yr 2 years ago | 13 comments

Does anyone know of any coworking space open 24hs somewhere around the world? Sometimes because of my line of work I need to be awake when everyone is sleeping on the country I am in (but I know I am not the only one!). It would be amazing to share that time at a coworking space with others who like to work at night or who have to be awake. Does anyone know of any coworking space open 24hs somewhere in the world?

Bring external monitor to SE asia and avoid coworking cost?

by @anderkd | 3yr 2 years ago | 13 comments

Would it be advisable or wacky to lug an external monitor from the US in hopes of avoiding coworking costs by working from Airbnb with decent wifi? Iโ€™m not sold on coworking spaces, and like the solitude of coding away in my own little airbnb space. One screen is limiting to productivity, hence the love of an external monitor. Thoughts?

Short term (1-3 months) in Medellin?

in Medellรญn, Colombia by @jodie_taylor | 3yr 3 years ago | 30 comments

Hello all,

Iโ€™m just interested on anyones experience of renting short term (1-3 months) accommodation in Medellin, Colombia.

I had a look on Airbnb of course, lots of places, on the more expensive which isnโ€™t a huge issueโ€ฆ Iโ€™m just wondering if in anyones experience itโ€™s better to take a room for a week and shop around when I get there or whether I should just book a month upfront? I recently had a bad experience with Airbnb so not dying to go down that road again just yet if Iโ€™m honest.

Iโ€™ll be arriving in Medellin from November onwards over the Xmas period and likely through till January, maybe longer. Another friend is coming with me so we could potentially rent a 2 bed apartment, or Iโ€™d also be happy in a studio or a private room in a decent house even. Iโ€™m thinking El Poblano or Laureles, as we are two girls with limited Spanish.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Would you like a coworking & coliving space in Panama?

Hi everybody,
We are at the beginning of a very interesting journey to eventually establish work spaces and accommodation in Panama.
But before we start, weโ€™d love to figure out how Panama is perceived by you, US time zone and currency are any advantages ? Would you prefer more urbanic or beachfront locations ?
All feedback will be highly appreciated.
Cheers =)

Where to find a coworking space in Sydney for a few days?

in Sydney, Australia by @keiththetraveller | 4yr 3 years ago | 2 comments

Hi Guys,

Iโ€™m visiting friends in Sydney for Christmas and am looking to hot desk for a few days. The dates are 20,21,22,23 December - the week before Christmas.

Iโ€™ve tried some coworkings but it works out really expensive for just four days. Does anyone know of anywhere I can try and hot desk for a few days for a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance,

Keith

Does anyone have practical experience of coworking in Kyoto, Japan?

in Kyoto, Japan by @jonlay | 4yr 3 years ago | 5 comments

Iโ€™m looking to take a trip to Japan and am considering a month in Osaka.

There are a few co-working spaces appearing online:

There are also some very old articles out there from 2012.

But most of the information online seems very dated and as a non-Japanese speaker, itโ€™s tricky to figure out whatโ€™s current, without emailing each of them via Facebook and trying to narrow down the list.

Anyone have any recent experiences or recommendations?
