What are the best coworking spaces in Chiang Mai (Thailand)?

in Chiang Mai, Thailand by @lordcyberspacer | 4yr  | 4 comments

As simple as that. Iโ€™m going to start working on my startup as a digital nomad in January, and Chiang Mai is one of the places where I am going to stay. At present, what are the best coworking spaces here? Any suggestions?

+1 On Punspace being โ€œthe bestโ€, I prefer the Tha Pae Gate location nowโ€ฆ not so happy that the cafes and restaurant next to the old Nimman location were replacedโ€ฆ but there are still a few good places for lunch (Anchan Noodles) and coffee (too many to list)โ€ฆ

The Brick is a brand new coworking space obnoxiously located about 100m from PunSpace Nimmanโ€ฆ itโ€™s free the first month (just like Punspace was when it first opened). Itโ€™s backed by the government/university so Iโ€™m guessing itโ€™ll be cheaper and mostly Thais (unlike Punspace which is 99% non-Thai). Iโ€™ve yet to figure out why Hubba (BKK) is reasonably 50/50 Thai/Non-Thai but Punspace is so heavily non-thai.

There are others. CAMP (at Mayaโ€ฆ think lots of Thai teenagers studying) and a couple others that are small and IMHO inferior to Punspace in comfort, reliability, community and just about every other metric Iโ€™d measure a coworking space by.

The Thai immigration chief has just announced a crackdown on foreigners conducting business while on tourist visas. Chiangmai has a history of raiding co-working places and making arrests. Better be careful.

PunSpace (with its two branches in Nimman as well as Tha Pae Gate in the Old City) is probably the most popular option. Their spaces are exceptionally nice, and their prices are just a bit higher than others โ€” but thatโ€™s because they can afford to do that. Itโ€™s probably the single best choice if youโ€™re looking for a space where you can socialize with other expat digital nomads, there are always people around. 24-hour access is something they offer members, I believe.

Main con with PunSpace is that the locations are hardly ideal unless you have a bike. The โ€œNimmanโ€ branch isnโ€™t even really in Nimman, itโ€™s on the far southeast section outside of Nimman so from my place on Nimman Soi 2 it wouldโ€™ve been a 20+ minute walk. I didnโ€™t ever live in the Old City, so I couldnโ€™t gauge if the Tha Pae Gate location was particularly bad.

Another great option is CAMP. Free coworking space in Maya mall, gorgeous design, great cafe with alright prices, open 24 hours, amazing place in general. Main con: no fixed desks, and Thai students hang out there all the time, often leaving their bags to book spots for hours on end โ€” if you come in the mornings youโ€™ll tend to get a good spot, though.

Has anyone created a list of co-living spaces around the world?

by @keegansard | 4mo 4 months ago | 4 comments

Iโ€™m a big believer in co-living but Iโ€™m finding hard to find all the options available in different cities.

I have found the major players like Roam, The Collective, and WeLive but havenโ€™t found many others.

Has anyone seen a list or should I start making one?

Is there any good and safe coworking space with fast internet in Costa Rica?

in Costa Rica by @sven | 1yr 1 year ago | 7 comments

Everything is in the title.

Iโ€™m working on a big project so I will need fast internet (>15 mbps).
If itโ€™s close to the beach, it would be even better.

Thanks !!

What are the best coworking spaces in Playa del Carmen, Mexico?

in Playa del Carmen, Mexico by @simone_scarduzio | 1yr 1 year ago | 1 comment

Would you recommend โ€œWork Zoneโ€ http://www.oficinasplaya.com over Nest?
Do you have other coworking spaces there you would recommend?

And where is a good place to stay (i.e. coliving)?

Foreigner owned Coworking business in Malaysia

in Malaysia by @newyam | 2yr 1 year ago | 0 comments

Heyo folks! The idea to open up an own coworking space in Malaysia has been on my mind for quite a while and I would like to reach out on foreigners being a business owner/co working space owner in Malaysia, there are a lot of questions that would follow up but most importantly is to reach out to someone with experience.

Ideally would be someone who runs a coworking space in Malaysia, second best would be to just come in touch with a foreign business owner in Malaysia.
Cheers
Yamin

How do you receive physical mail as a digital nomad?

by @danielgenser | 2yr 2 years ago | 81 comments

Does anyone have recommendations to handle physical mail? In the USA, Iโ€™ve noticed various services over the years where you get a physical address that you can change your address to, they receive your mail, scan stuff and send you PDFโ€™s.

Has anyone used these types of services? Impressions?

Best coworking space in Medellin?

in Medellรญn, Colombia by @adele | 2yr 2 years ago | 6 comments

Hi there,

Iโ€™m considering a month or two in Medellin and wondered what the co-working space options are like. I want something more than a cafe, so happy to pay the going rate. I spent a couple of months at Hubud in Bali earlier this year and loved it, but realise that Iโ€™ve set the bar pretty high.

Has anyone used Epicenter? I read somewhere it is pretty busy. Any other options?

Suggestions much appreciated.

Ho Chi Minh City, Chiang Mai or Bali for Jun-Jul-Aug for work?

in Chiang Mai, Thailand by @chelocoach | 2yr 2 years ago | 8 comments

Hi experienced nomads!

Iโ€™ve been nomading around SE Asia, HK and China for the last 4 to 5 months. Iโ€™ve been moving a lot and now I need to settle down for 3 months to finish some work. So the idea is to be in a stimulating city where I can find nomads, start-ups, self growth, self improvement, spirituality environments.
I already been for one month in Chiang mai, and liked it a lot in this respect, but wanted to try somewhere new, so was thinking to go to Ho Chi Minh or Bali. As I will be working mainly most of the time, the idea is not to spend much this three months, so my idea is to spend around 1200usd per month.

Would appreciate any opinions on this.

Best place to sit down and work for three months on a 1200usd budget a month?

Thnx
