What are the co-working spaces in Split, Croatia?

in Split , Croatia by @emondpph 9yr  | 19 comments

Hi all,

I am looking for a co-working space in Split, Crotia. There used to a couple of places listed on nomadlist.io but since the recent update they are not there anymore. Does somebody have a place they can recommend me ? I am staying there for 1 month (august).

Thank you

Bit of an old thread, but if anyone is looking for a co-working space now, one just opened up in the Meje area, which I found also has the best nature walks in Split (forest, beaches). It is Coworking Split, and I worked there, so can vouch for it being a bright, modern space โ€“ intimate, but plenty of room to work and meet. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. http://www.coworkingsplit.com/

Hey Miquel. I would definitely recommend Amo!sfera. I am there right now, it is great. You just have to get used to take the bus from city center to Split 3, but itโ€™s a short ride and there are many bus.

@emondpph, what have you learned about coworking in Split since you have arrived? It will be a real bummer if I have to choose between staying in my apt and a noisy cafe.

Hello,

I am managing the coworking space Amo!sfera Coworking in Split, Croatia.
This is our facebook page: www.facebook.com/coworkingamosfera?fref=ts
Thanks @emondpph for sharing the sharedesk link!

We are located 2 km east from the city center in second city center, sort of a downtown, right next to University campus.

One of the great things about Split is all the different caffe bars you can find and work from there. My personal favorites are Bajamonti in city center and Mythos on the seaside. But I would recommend trying out these as well: Dvor, ลฝbirac, F-Marine, Le Mond and Split Caffe.

If you have any questions regarding working, coworking, networking, living and traveling to Split, donโ€™t hesitate to ask me.

In Amosfera now, it reminds me a lot of Hubba in 2013, just before the nomad explosion happened in Thailand.

It has a lot of potential and I think weโ€™ll see lots of remote workers here in the next few years.

Hereโ€™s pics I made:

Many cafes in Split have wifi but are not always equipped well for work. They have outdoor seating, with small and wobbly tables and no electrical socketsโ€ฆ

When I was a student in Split, weโ€™d go to study in Lvxor on Peristyle (but not in summer!!!). They have nice large tables, free wifi, quiet atmosphere and coffee is a decent price.

Another place like that, for non-summer time, is Bajamonti on Prokurative (Trg Republike).

Marcvs Marvlvs is good, hidden from most tourists but itโ€™s very small!

Hi @emondpph, I just spent three weeks there and worked from home, but my favorite bar/cafe there was Marcvs Marvlvs which had a great connection (10-11Mbps). Itโ€™s a cozy little bar-cum-library, and the owner is an Argentinian-Croatian poet (though heโ€™s only there on evenings). I imagine it would be a great place to work from during the day if you need somewhere shady and cool.

Hope that helps

Are co-working spaces a good way to meet people in a new city?

by @donaldbough 3yr 3 years ago  | 1 comment

My fiancรฉe and I are most likely moving to NYC (maybe DC) in August, and as a technical startup co-founder I'd love to meet new people that are also into startups. Would joining a co-working space be worth the money to do this?

I work for a big tech company that has an office in NYC, but it's mainly sales so I wouldn't be able to meet others that are related to any of my 9-5 work or likely into tech.

If co-working spaces, post covid of course, aren't a good way to meet business starting people in a new city, what is?

Best/quickest way from Italy to Croatia?

in Croatia by @ld 4yr 4 years ago  | 3 comments

Hello,

We are in Umbria until August 31. We've been here since March, but crisis-level visa extensions are over. After that we have to leave the EU. We would like to stay out of the USA (our home) due to it's covid crisis, at the same time we want to be responsible about travel. Ideally we would not travel at all, rather stay hidden in the countryside of Umbria forever until covid is more under control globally, but here we are!

So we must leave the Schengen zone. We should avoid USA. We should avoid long air travel.

We were thinking Croatia.

Do you recommend a route to Croatia? We are open to long train rides. Ideally not long ferry rides. Is there a ferry route under 4 hours? I read about it...I don't see it. If not, the other option is to make our way north and up over to Croatia via train.

I'd appreciate your thoughts and insights!

Thanks.

Do you prefer co-living spaces or hostels or Airbnbs?

by @davda1546 4yr 4 years ago  | 5 comments

We are hoping to become nomads soon and have booked an AirBnB in September in Goa for our first destination. We are considering what would be the best option for accommodation after that. We are trying to decide between co-living spaces, hostels, or Airbnbs.

What are your experiences of accommodation in terms of the following: reliable wifi, social aspect, pricing, cleanliness, cooking facilities?

by @keegansard 4yr 4 years ago  | 4 comments

Iโ€™m a big believer in co-living but Iโ€™m finding hard to find all the options available in different cities.

I have found the major players like Roam, The Collective, and WeLive but havenโ€™t found many others.

Has anyone seen a list or should I start making one?

Daily/hourly pass needed.
Canโ€™t work in normal cafรฉ because having clientโ€™s laptop for security reasons, canโ€™t use open networks. Working for R&D. Also laptop is so huge it doesnโ€™t fit normal cafe environment because itโ€™s far from discreet.

Which coworking spaces are open 24/7?

by @yako 6yr 6 years ago  | 13 comments

Does anyone know of any coworking space open 24hs somewhere around the world? Sometimes because of my line of work I need to be awake when everyone is sleeping on the country I am in (but I know I am not the only one!). It would be amazing to share that time at a coworking space with others who like to work at night or who have to be awake. Does anyone know of any coworking space open 24hs somewhere in the world?

Does the 90 day Schengen rule apply inside of Croatia?

Hi all, need some help with schengen fuzzinessโ€ฆ Iโ€™m a US citizen.

Does any know if the 90 day rule applies inside of Croatia. Iโ€™m seeing that Croatia isnโ€™t part of schengen but adopts the same visa aquis. This isnโ€™t clear to me.

If someone has a definitive answer please let me know as Iโ€™m approaching the 90 day rule in my travel plans and I want to hit Croatia and not have it count.

Thanks in advance.

Search/review site for Co-Working spaces around the world?

by @gnefkow 7yr 7 years ago  | 7 comments

Hostelworld for hostels,
Nomadlist for general locations,
Yelp for food (among other things)
Trip Advisor for activitiesโ€ฆ

Is there a website where a community of people can rate and review co-working spaces around the world? Iโ€™m in a nice place right now, and about to start on toward the next destination, Iโ€™d love to review the coworking space Iโ€™m currently sitting in and start planning for the next stop.

I know that there are some threads around here about it, but Iโ€™d love to search โ€œTaipeiโ€ and see a list of them with reviews from actual nomads (rather than the hap-hazard websites the coworking spaces make about themselves).

What are the pros and cons of the popular cities in the west Balkans (Split, Ljubljana, etc.)?

in Ljubljana , Slovenia by @asinsam 8yr 8 years ago  | 16 comments

I have been interested in traveling to the balkans for a while, and the cities Iโ€™ve been delving most into are Ljubljana, Zagreb, Split, and Sarajevo (also Prague and Budapest). Iโ€™m interested in hearing about these places from anyone who has travelled there, especially to multiple of the cities, or to any other place in the region.

In particular, Iโ€™m interested in pros and cons of the cities vis-a-vis each other, and interested in tidbits about the vibe of the cities, the culture of the people, and any other first-hand things that are hard to pick up by reading (I already know the sizes of the cities, that they each have beautiful architecture, that Split has the beach, etc. ). How youthful do the cities feel? How walkable are they? How friendly are the locals? How likely would a 26 year old digital nomad be to meet his bride there ;)? What are the biggest unique things that stand out about each place?

Are you satisfied with the co-working space environment in Budapest / Hungary?

in Budapest , Hungary by @zoltanradics 8yr 8 years ago  | 4 comments

We are a group of freelancers working from home in Budapest and we are thinking about to open our own co-working space in the city. From freelancers to freelancers. Not in the hearth of the city (out of noise) but 10 minutes from the centre on the main tramline. (No. 4-6.) Friendly mood, 24/7 open, only environmental friendly solutions, good coffee, healthy food, sandwiches, snacks and beverages, proper price. Opinions?!
