Hi all, need some help with schengen fuzzinessโฆ Iโm a US citizen.
Does any know if the 90 day rule applies inside of Croatia. Iโm seeing that Croatia isnโt part of schengen but adopts the same visa aquis. This isnโt clear to me.
If someone has a definitive answer please let me know as Iโm approaching the 90 day rule in my travel plans and I want to hit Croatia and not have it count.

Croatia is a member of the EU, but not part of Schengen. So, both the border people of the country you are leaving and of Croatia might check your passport. If you are leaving a Schengen country after your 90 days are up, you are more likely to be caught by the exit country, who will arrest you for overstaying your visa. (They say it is a felony, but really only a fine. Iโm a US citizen, and in my case, the fine was $250 and a lot of paperwork.) Then you are also on Croatiaโs radar for the length of stay.
Unless you have an emergency and have to stay, cross the border before 90 days are up. If you have an emergency, go to the embassy before 90 days are up.
Donโt risk overstaying the visa limit, itโs not worth the hassle.
The Croatian terrestrial internet Iโve used has been 5-10Mbps but faster 4G is very cheap (~$10=3gb) and widespread. I guess itโs an example of lower-level physical infrastructure getting leapfrogged by newer technology.
1-2 days in Dubrovnik will be plenty. Istria is really nice; Iโd try to make it up there if I were you. Piran ( just across the Slovenian border, so not an option if youโre at 90 days on your schengen clock), Pula, and Rovinj were all lovely and less crowded than Dubrovnik (but still fairly touristyโthis is Croatia, after all).
@dvc Slovenia is schengen, though, so if he has to be out of the schengen, he canโt pop up there. 
Best internet connection would be T-HT (Croatian Telecom = T-mobile) and VIP.
TELE2 offers cheaper 4G and have cover nation wide since few months back.
Best coverage on Islands is probably T-HT and VIPnet, they have their own infrastructure so their customers have priority. Even 3G is decent, if you donโt have real need for 4G.
no, it doesnโt. croatia wants to join schengen so itโs implementing the same rules but theyโre not a member so days there donโt count.

sure thing. have fun. croatia is lovely. just donโt plan to spend too much time in dubrovnik and make sure you explore the neighboring countries (which I personally prefer).
Thanks. Planning around 10 days in Croatiaโฆ Dubrovnik and some coastal spots. Howโs internet travelling around Croatia. I saw some reports of 5mb or so in Dubrovnik a year ago.
Then weโre off to explore Italy until mid October 
2 days is plenty in dubrovnik unless you use it as a base to do day trips to mostar and kotor.
i found the internet fine, but it depends on where you are, what you need, and where youโre staying.
Iโd second this. I went to Dubrovnik for three days, mainly because I wanted to do the Game of Thrones tour and found it a bit boring. After youโve explored the old town and had a bit of a look around, there isnโt a helluva lot to do. You can go to the beaches or take boats around the islands but Iโm not a beach person and I imagine if you are, the beaches would be just as nice and far less crowded in other parts of the country.

We are in Umbria until August 31. We've been here since March, but crisis-level visa extensions are over. After that we have to leave the EU. We would like to stay out of the USA (our home) due to it's covid crisis, at the same time we want to be responsible about travel. Ideally we would not travel at all, rather stay hidden in the countryside of Umbria forever until covid is more under control globally, but here we are!
So we must leave the Schengen zone. We should avoid USA. We should avoid long air travel.
We were thinking Croatia.
Do you recommend a route to Croatia? We are open to long train rides. Ideally not long ferry rides. Is there a ferry route under 4 hours? I read about it...I don't see it. If not, the other option is to make our way north and up over to Croatia via train.

Nomads who bounce around Europe: Has anyone tried to use Andorra as their non-schengen time? Iโve read that you donโt get a stamp at the border, so Iโm guessing if you wanted to do this youโd need to go to a govt office for a stamp? Is this even possible? If youโve done this, would love to hear your experience!
The Australian government apparently has bilateral agreements with a number of signatories to the Schengen Visa treaty that predate, and supersede, the standard 90/180 for traveling in the Schengen zone.

According to this article, and some of the links Iโve followed to official documents, Australians are (potentially) permitted to travel within Schengen, and not have their stay in the following countries aggregate up to the 90/180, but be treated as separate periods, with the time permitted under the existing bilateral agreements.

In theory, this would permit an Australian passport holder to move relatively unrestricted around the Schengen zone for an almost infinite period.
For example, if I am permitted to be in Germany for 90/180, external to the Schengen treaty, I could, in theory, spend 90 days here, exit to Austria on the train, spend another 90/180, exit to The Netherlands by train, spend another 90/180, and then return to Germany, where my 180 days would have reset.
If youโre an Aussie, and have been traveling in Europe without any formal visa documentation, other than your passport, Iโd love to hear from you. Iโm attempting to plan out the balance of my time in Europe, and donโt want to fall foul with any officials. Getting a black mark on my passport would be highly undesirable.

I am currently based in Cluj (Romania) and looking for options once my tourist visa runs out of days, the Schengen area is not an option due to the same reason. My current options are either the Balkans (Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia), Bulgaria, Turkey or Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia). Timeframe: between JAN/FEB18 to MAR/APR18.
The criteria would include:

Iโm looking for a base for the upcoming winter season.
on my radar i have following options:
France = I love the country, speak its languge, enjoy its food, just the climate ainโt most warm unless your in the deep south (good wines too)
Spain = After one year of living Mexico and speaking fluently spanish this rather new country could be very interesting, if not intriguing. Valencia probably on my top lists.
Italy = havenโt been in Italy for a while, though iโm italian. Generally very sociable country and if your not a tax resident the sounds of living in it is quite fascinating.
Greece = Never been there, food and climate would be probably very suitable if not super sweet. I can see my self overlooking the Agean see on a cup of wine while work is done stretching into sweet weekends.
Ukraine = I know bloody cold and politically tense, yet arguably cheap and still safe (iโm used to Mexican standards). It would be a interesting ride for sure, and low expenses would mean easy route to stay competitive and build momentum in my business.
All other options are out of sight, UK , IRELAND are too cold and expensive. I would drink too much to feel sociable 
Where are you guys heading?
I have October, November, December to opt in , new year Iโd probably HOP into a newer country, still EU-Bound โฆ

In august my Schengen tourist visa will be over. I would like to go 3 months in Eastern Europe, but it needs to be outside of the Schengen area. I would have loved to go to Budapest but because itโs Schengen I canโtโฆ
Frankly, I donโt know Eastern Europe that well. What are the best spots for Digital nomad in this region ? Also, I need a cool co-working space, I donโt like working from my house.

Iโm planning on moving to Spain and Iโd like to connect with those who have tried to apply for this special type of long-term visa called as โnon-lucrative residence visaโ.
Going from what Iโve researched so far, itโs a good option for us nomads (more so: business owners) to stay longer in Spain (one only needs to prove steady stream of income of at least EUR 2.2K per month and that you should NOT work for Spain โ so letโs say having a U.S. company and staying in Spain is fine).
So : my concerns right now revolve mainly on anyoneโs experiences with applying for this type of visa. How difficult was it? How long did it take you?
Also, Iโm wondering about how I can secure a rental space for a year if my lease depends on the approval from the embassy. Iโm also wondering if Valencia is a good place to stay in?
So I know itโs illegal to work in Europe for European companies without a work visa / permit. Iโm also aware of the Germany freelancer visa, which lets you work in Germany legally for 3 years (but Iโm not stationing in Germany; I want to hop hop hop). I see many digital nomads programming on the road, making income from American companies on a Schengen tourist visa. Of course this seems fine, since itโs brining American dollars into Europe. But is it legal? Has anyone had experiences / conversations with immigration, or seen this discussed anywhere online? My Google fu fails me here.

Hi guys. My plan is to travel from country to country, spending about 2 months in each country respectively. For most countries you can only apply for a visa about 2-3 months prior to your visit and some like China, require you to apply from your home country or country of residence. How do I know apply for visas for my second, third and fourth destination? Say Iโll apply for a China visa in South Africa (where I live), go to China for 2 months, then I want to go to Thailand for 2 months. Letโs assume I cannot apply for a China and a Thailand visa while still in South Africaโฆ how do I go about that. And then, once I leave Thailand for say Vietnam, same question again. Do I have to go to the respective embassys in the countries Im staying in and apply for my next destination?

I started applying to jobs on remoteok.io and other similar sites and have been wondering how other people are approaching these sites.
Iโve been freelancing and consulting since 2009, but have never applied for a job โthe normal wayโ, so I was wondering how other people are doing it. Are you sending CVs and cover letters or are you doing anything creative like videos or other such things?
Personally, Iโve wrote up a CV and hired a guy to write cover letters for me. I think the letters he writes would work well for corporate jobs (or for anything that has an HR department โ he uses a lot of these HR buzzwords like โcross-culturalโ and โhighly motivated to develop my professional skillsโ and stuff like that), but Iโm not sure if this stuff is appropriate in a startup context.
Please donโt interpret my post as โI want a job, please help meโ because itโs not that. Iโm just curious how everyone else is doing it. Specifically for non-tech non-design jobs (things where you canโt easily point to things and say โI made thisโ). As I said, I never applied for a job and donโt know so many people that have and Iโm sure my mom is not the right person to ask.
Iโd also be curious how many applicants positions on remoteok.io etc. usually get, in case anyone knows.
My fiancรฉe(who is British) is on her second 30 days visa exemption in Thailand. Weโre considering getting the visa exemption extension for 30 days and staying longer.
Our only worry is: Does this mean we would hit 90 days in total? We need to return in March to fly home from Bangkok. We are worried weโd be refused entry in March as they might count the visa exemption extension against us.

As a US citizen, does Cyprus count towards my 3 months in Schengen? Iโve read that the South is part of Greece, the North part of Turkey, but that Cyprus is not considered Schengen. The whole thing confuses me, would love any insight.
Anyone spent time there? Recommendations? Internet?
We plan on staying in Split, Croatia from Aug - Oct or Sep - Nov. My budget is around $600 (around 500 euros) for a 2-bedroom appartment. Is that realistic and are the prices on nomadlist accurate?
I started my search on njuskalo.hr and broker.hr. Got one response so far and the guy told me appartment rates start at 1000eur. In August he said it would โnot be possibleโ to find appartments in my price range because of the tourism.
I also looked at Airbnb. Some nice single room appartments there at 500euros but no 2 bedroom appartments.
Anyone who can point me in the right direction or can refer me to someone? Would be much appreciated!

I entered the Schengen area on 28th July 2014, and left on 26th October 2014.
Whenโs the earliest I can re-enter?
Is it 23rd January or 24th?
Iโm asking because I definitely need to leave Romania on the 23rd January. Iโll be taking the train to Budapest. If I can only re-enter on 24th, Iโm wondering what they will do to me.
