Best beach towns in Southern Italy?

Maybe itโ€™s late but considering that nobody answered I add my 2 cents.
In Sicilia I would say Cefalรน and Taormina, but Taormina is a strange town and if you stay โ€œupโ€ itโ€™s a long thing to go to the sea. Close to Palermo there is Mondello. Close to Agrigento there is Scala dei turchi.

In Sardegna there are probably the best beaches but itโ€™s not exactly south of Italy and itโ€™s not well connected to the rest of the worldโ€ฆ Iโ€™ve never been there but for some of my friends is one of the most beautiful land in the world.

In Puglia and Calabria there are plenty of beaches, but a bit more north I suggest Portonovo, Sirolo, Numana and Senigallia. In particular close to Sirolo there are two of the most beautiful beaches in Italia. I know them well because I donโ€™t live far from there and these are โ€œmy beachesโ€. Prices are similar to South of Italy, much lower than in Liguria or Toscana.

How's the internet in Oaxaca towns?

in Oaxaca , Mexico by @azurio 4yr 4 years ago  | 0 comments

Hi guys!

If youโ€™ve been to Puerto Escondido, Mazunte, Zipolite, etc, please share your experience with the internet there.

  • What speeds did you get up/down? Where?

  • How solid and consistent was the connection?

  • How common are blackouts and loss of power?

  • Any other tips, favorite places to work, etc?

Which towns have decent internet?

  • Puerto Escondido
  • Mazunte
  • Zipolite

Best things to do in Vicenza, Italy?

in Italy by @greysonxcole 5yr 5 years ago  | 4 comments

Hey everyone!

Iโ€™ll be spending a few weeks (11/25 - 12/15) in Vicenza, Italy and want to know if you have any recommendations on things to do/see while there. Iโ€™m open to traveling to nearby countries and cities as my schedule will be pretty open. I love being outdoors - hiking, swimming, etc., but realize December isnโ€™t the most ideal time for those types of things.

What are your favorite things to do around here?

Thanks,
Greyson

Places in Central or South America with a beach for remote working

by @mcdime 6yr 6 years ago  | 5 comments

Im looking to make my first venture into nomad living this September and keep leaning back towards Bocas del Toro.

Does anyone have experience setting up shop there? Iโ€™m open to other warm weather surf towns as well

Starting a SaaS company that assists the operation of service based industries so being near some other SaaS people would be wonderful. (First time starting a tech company)

Best European Ski Towns?

by @matthewhallcom 6yr 6 years ago  | 9 comments

Looking to spend around 6 weeks somewhere in Europe this winter skiing and working. Donโ€™t need a big tech community but care more about it being affordable and having at least half decent skiing.

So far I have heard good things about Les Deux Alpes, France and Bansko, Bulgaria.

Quaint small towns/villages in Italy and/or France

in Italy by @theunisk 7yr 7 years ago  | 13 comments

Any recommendations for a few weeks stay in a small, quiet town or village somewhere in Italy/France during summer ? Open to any setting, by the seaside, in the mountains or the countryside - Iโ€™d like to get a feel for local life (outside the cities) in a charming place.
Having hiking routes available nearby would be a bonus, but not required.
Internet speed will not be very important, so that does not need to be taken into consideration.
Iโ€™ll likely be doing both Italy and France, so suggestions for both would be great.

Which USA towns to experience rural South?

by @srg_b 7yr 7 years ago  | 3 comments

Iโ€™m going on a rock festival to Louisiana in October. From there Iโ€™d like to visit maybe 3 places and be gone by new year. What Iโ€™m looking for are dreamy rural towns ~50k in size that havenโ€™t changed much and will allow me to briefly experience how it is living in the South/SE USA. Another thing is since Iโ€™m coming in Fall, what will the weather be? Where Iโ€™m coming from, November is all rain, clouds, winds and 10 degrees (so the crappiest weather possible). Are my filters yielding any results? Thanks!

Favorite towns in Mexico (and near it)?

in Mexico by @azurio 7yr 7 years ago  | 5 comments

Hey guys!

We love Mexico. Weโ€™re excited to find outstanding towns to live in for 2-12 months at a time. Weโ€™re also open to Central American gems.

We especially appreciate learning about those smaller towns that are lesser known but amazing. Personal favorites!

Here are some of our interests:

  • a paradise vibe: ocean, lush greenery, vibrant arts, and/or old town charm
  • at least 3 Mbps download speed
  • great cost of living
  • considerable expat and retiree crowd
  • not too much of an urban city โ€” though a smaller town outside a city can work
  • a bit touristy is okay

Here are lesser-discussed towns that caught our eye โ€” weโ€™d love impressions of these and more that come to mind:

  • Huatulco
  • Ixtapa
  • Guanajuato
  • And more?

Thanks so much, guys!

Best WiFi on the beach in Playa del Carmen

in Playa del Carmen , Mexico by @clusk 7yr 7 years ago  | 1 comment

Been in Playa for a day working at Nest. Good spot - but I forget Iโ€™m in a tropical locale. Does anyone have positive WiFi experience with a bar, restaurant, cafe on the beach in Playa del Carmen? It doesnโ€™t have to be rocket fast - just not a slow, unreliable connection.

Thanks!

What are good ski towns for digital nomads?

by @andrewdblevins 8yr 8 years ago  | 9 comments

It looks like most people on here tend to go to the more tropical locations, has anyone done the opposite? Any digital nomad ski-bums out there? I would love to hear your stories.

Where are the good Ski-towns, with slopes, powder, cheap living and good wifi? About how much will it cost? What is the best way to get short term housing in a ski-town during ski season?

What's good places in South East Asia to work with beaches?

by @kumi 8yr 8 years ago  | 10 comments

Hi there, now Iโ€™m thinking to explorer beaches / islands in SE Asia which are good for nomad-working. Do you have any recommendations?

The conditions are, I think,
[Must]

  • Internet (faster is better)
  • Cheap living cost (My budget is about 500 USD/month)
  • Clean beach
    [Want]
  • Good cafes
  • Good foods
  • Not so many people are there and not so famous already
Co-working space would be nice, but not necessary for me.

Iโ€™ve already found Koh Phangan in Thailand is amazing, and Iโ€™m going to try Koh Lanta
Now Iโ€™m in Sihanoukville Cambodia, itโ€™s still nice (the beach I am is not so clean for swimming though), and going to travel Koh Ta Kiev for 2-3 days but unfortunately there is no wi-fi and only very-poor mobile internet, so I canโ€™t say itโ€™s for digital nomad. :frowning:

I would appreciate if you share your brilliant experience
Thank you!

Are there towns similar to Boulder or Portland in Europe?

in Portland , United States by @j0hnlucas 8yr 8 years ago  | 17 comments

Small towns with:

  1. beautiful nature (mountains or sea)
  2. progressive (clean energy, digital, social justice, etc)
  3. laid back attitude
  4. affordable
  5. good startup community
It seems to me that if 2 and 5 then itโ€™s hard to have 1 and 3. e.g. Berlin for startups is too big, not great nature, a bit too cold. Am I asking too much?

Which places in Southern Thailand offer the ideal work and play balance?

in Thailand by @eot_fly 8yr 8 years ago  | 5 comments

Hi everyone,
Iโ€™ve been in Chiang Mai, for a month, and would like to go down south for another 2 months. My priority is finding a location where I can work from, preferably somewhere that is not too touristy, yet not too remote either. Do you have any recommendations in regards to finding a place that is both attractive (beaches, scenery, outdoor activities etc.) and ideal for getting work done (co-working spaces, cafes, not too overcrowded)?

Iโ€™ve been looking into the Krabi region (Ao Nang, Lanta, Koh Lipe) and the Surat Thani region (Ko tao, Phangan and Samui). Since I have never visited any of those places, I am not quite sure if they are well suited for working as much as doing touristic activities.

Thank you

How is San Jose del Cabo for nomads? Other good beach towns in Mexico?

in San Jose , United States by @jammingsloth 8yr 8 years ago  | 0 comments

Looking towards next winter. Have my eyes on Mexico, looking to be by the beach. Has anyone ever spent time in San Jose del Cabo?

Looking for fast-ish internet, and a good art scene. Not looking for spring-break party destination, but touristy is fine (kind of goes along with the art scene). Any recommendations?

What are the more laidback towns in Japan?

in Japan by @cpury 8yr 8 years ago  | 10 comments

Hi nomads!

I really like Japan and would love to spend more time there (I know itโ€™s expensive!), but I generally dislike the stereotypical Asian city (aka soulless concrete jungles).

To define what I consider โ€œcoolโ€, I really like those young, laid-back, green and open places, where you can bike around and sit outside and meet people, even better with mountains, forests or beaches in range.

I havenโ€™t been to Tokyo (I just supposed it would be too big to fit my expectations), but there might be some good areas there. So far Matsuyama was the closest I found to a โ€œcoolโ€ place in Japan. Iโ€™ve met loads of laid-back โ€œanti-cultureโ€ people and even hardcore hippies from Japan, so Iโ€™m sure they must gather somewhere

Anyone has some hints where to find a place like this? Or a recommendation of a nice area in one of the big cities?

What's a good place in Malaysia near the beach?

in Malaysia by @bobz_zg 8yr 8 years ago  | 7 comments

Anyone can suggest some place in Malaysia where could I rent some affordable place ( < 30$ US/d) and be near the beach. What I need is:

  • decent room with daily cleaning
  • 4G reception
  • some night life around, like where there are few bars to hang out when my head is

I came from Phuket week ago to KL, was 100m from the beach for 1 month.
O what a depression when I came to a shitty hotel in KL, I wanted to turn around and go back to Thailand. O, my Buddha!

What are good cafe's and restaurants to work on Phra-Ae beach, Ko Lanta?

Any working cafe suggestions in southern Bali (Bukit)?

by @tomanna 9yr 9 years ago  | 1 comment

Iโ€™m in the market for a cafe I can work in with all the usual Digital Nomad needs - wifi, tolerant owners, air conditioning.

It needs to be south of the airport in Bali, somewhere in Bukit. Any suggestions?
