Thessaloniki is a city spread over the hills by the side of the Aegean. A cultural crossroads since Byzantine times, it has amazing cuisine and is full of reasonably priced tavernas and restaurants. Full of neo-classical buildings, there are lots of great living options available close to the city center and beyond. The pace of life is stately or as locals call it "hallarah" and most are not in a rush. There is a nice film festival in the Fall and many other public celebrations.

I have been several times to Burgas. The Sea Garden is amazing and you see so many people doing sports activities, jogging, gym in the park etc. The center of the city is the best part along with the Sea Garden, beaches are nice and has airport that starts to get traffic also in winter season. It is peaceful city and in terms of food and friendly people it is great. The downside is during winter you have not much to do and I have heard there are sometimes shortage of water for locals.

It's a gem! Niš is a tiny city full of green places to walk and friendly people. Dirty cheap, you can live a very comfortable life there for way less than 1,000 USD. It’s literally a “new” country, young crowd, mostly unemployed but very hardworking. Energy is vibrant and people are really welcoming. It’s safe and not much to see and do, what is great for getting the work done.

There's no reason to live in this city. I spent a year here. The weather is not even a bit nicer compared to central-eastern Europe. Maybe when it's -4 degrees in Budapest, it's +1 in Barcelona. I'll preface this by saying I am American 30s male. Belgrade is okay. Nothing about it really stands out to me. I'd say its mediocre at best. I would maybe avoid if you are American. I mean the people that I met seemed fairly friendly but there are alot of russians and there is a bit of resentment towards Americans (because of the 1999 bombing). Generally speaking. A top city. Everything works, beautiful greenery (hehe), cycling everywhere, happy people, great nightlife... Lots to love about. For nomads? Not a chance. Price of housing is outrageous, and the city is expensive af. They charge you 4.5-5 eur for a capuccino, completely shameless. An hour of public transport is 3 euros. I could go on and on. I'd love to live there, but it's not worth it.
