I'll preface this by saying I am American 30s male. Belgrade is okay. Nothing about it really stands out to me. I'd say its mediocre at best. I would maybe avoid if you are American. I mean the people that I met seemed fairly friendly but there are alot of russians and there is a bit of resentment towards Americans (because of the 1999 bombing). Generally speaking. I've been in Phuket for about a month now. Most of that time I've spent in Ka Ron and Kata beach area, but also have been to Chalong, Pa Tong, Rawai, and Kathu. Karon and Kata beaches are my favorite. Beaches are beautiful, especially Karon. Overall most everything is reasonably priced, but not the bargain I was told it is. Lived in Prague for 8 years. It's a beautiful international European city. Never learned Czech, but was fine. Almost all cafes and restaurants have English menus. I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

Just visited Vienna for the second time and I figured that it would be worth writing a review about. Things I liked: - The architecture, as others have mentioned, is really beautiful - Food/cafes are also really good. You guys obviously don't know the right places, you probably ended up around lower Sukhumvit (with all the mention about hookers and lbs). Don't listen to any of this. Just arrived in KL, we are 30/35yrs+, a married couple and digital nomads, and wow.. What a city! This is the New York City of Asia. These appartments are epic. Grand views, very affordable, luxurious! You would pay 10-fold for the same deal in NYC or Tokyo or Dubai. And the food is fantastic. Indian, Malay, Indo, Chinese, American, European. The world is here!

Stayed here for a month. It reminds me of a less-developed Bangkok. Although there are a lot of high-rise buildings being built at the moment. One of the best cities in Europe. Though location makes a big difference in Istanbul. Besikatas, Niลantaลฤฑ, and Karakoy are parts that I enjoyed. They are safe and have nice vibe and energy. Big city, but not too hectic. I've met a lot of friendly Turkish people there and had good conversations. The food is good and relatively cheap. Outside of the good areas you will find lots of scams, people will try you everyday. Though its not violent, you can always just walk away.

Penang is really, really hot and humid. It's pretty affordable but it's relatively small. Personally, I think traveling Penang is great because you have a mix of cultures but I couldn't stay here for a longer time because it is so unbelievable hot.

I quite liked Zagreb. People are fairly warm, and it's charmingly laid out. Lots of good cafes and restaurants, and the center is pretty walkable. Was really looking forward to Hua Hin after everything we had read. On the plus side, everything is very accessible and of course loads of high quality Thai food everywhere, mixed in with a bunch of expat options. Found the western-style markets and prices in general to be considerably more (in relative terms) than Bangkok. I imagine this is due to the large expat community here. Beautiful city and well worth a weekend trip. Pretty safe in most areas, though you should keep an eye on your belongings at the Porta Palazzo market. One thing worth noting is that the air quality can be quite bad, and the drivers are also quite erratic. Probably wouldn't live in Turin long-term, but it's worth a visit for sure.

The pollution from cars is the worst thing about Plovdiv. Well, also the showers that take up the entire bathroom. The fascinating, long history is the best thing here. People are polite, decent, and helpful.
