I'll preface this by saying I am American 30s male. Belgrade is okay. Nothing about it really stands out to me. I'd say its mediocre at best. I would maybe avoid if you are American. I mean the people that I met seemed fairly friendly but there are alot of russians and there is a bit of resentment towards Americans (because of the 1999 bombing). Generally speaking. Stayed for 2 weeks after almost a year n a half in LatAm. Beautiful city; great food options- especially for Asian food lovers. Plenty of authentic Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese options for about 50% of what you would pay in a Western city. Decent hostels will cost $11-$15 weekdays and between $18-$30 on weekends.... One of the best cities in Europe. Though location makes a big difference in Istanbul. Besikatas, Nişantaşı, and Karakoy are parts that I enjoyed. They are safe and have nice vibe and energy. Outside of the good areas you will find lots of scams, people will try you everyday. Though its not violent, you can always just walk away.

Lived in Prague for 8 years. It's a beautiful international European city. Never learned Czech, but was fine. Almost all cafes and restaurants have English menus. I've been hanging out in Berlin on and off for 30 years. It is very safe for women. It is much friendlier than it used to be. There are loads of vegan restaurants now. The nightlife and specially jazz clubs are amazing! I have an excellent apartment to rent out in Wedding - which used to have a boring reputation but now is very cool.

There's no reason to live in this city. I spent a year here. The weather is not even a bit nicer compared to central-eastern Europe. Maybe when it's -4 degrees in Budapest, it's +1 in Barcelona. That's just as cold. And the insulation in apartments is practically non-existent, as well as AC and heating. This city is incredible. Now I understand why Parisians look down on other cities. It is endless. Museums, history, cool bars, incredible food, diversity, beautiful people nicely dressed... It helps a lot to speak French. It's expensive. I'd love to nomad here for a month or two. I really liked Marais as an area.
