Krakow is a brilliant city to live and work from. Friendly, easy to get around (usually able to walk everywhere), great internet and busy nightlife. Really pretty city, too. Kazimierz, the old Jewish district, is the obvious place to live. Loads of great cafes and other digital nomads there. I was there during the summer when it was between 24 and 30 degrees each day, which is perfect. No doubt a different experience in the winter, though!

Berlin is overall a great city to be. Food is cheap and everywhere, easy to go out and have fun/meet for business. Rent has crept up but still far better value than where I came from. Internet: 36 EUR/month get me 450/40 mbps (cable -> DOCSIS 3.0) Public transport is 2.70 EUR/ticket. No woman I know has said they felt unsafe. Some really odd, xenophobic sounding comments on here. Biggest downsides IMO: service quality at restaurants - not that people are rude, but they don't seem to particular

  • New York City

I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

Pros: -Great airport for connections to Africa and South America. -Has some really beautiful views. -Great fruit and fish. -Native Portuguese people are generally friendly and helpful. -Wonderful moderate climate (better than Spain) Cons: -The dirtiest major city I've seen in Europe. I lived in Central Warsaw on and off for about 1 year pre and post-pandemic. Central Warsaw is the "New York of Eastern Europe". Pros: - Very convenient, safe and clean. - Lots of modern, futuristic buildings. Easy to find nice apartments. - Very bike-able. - Not too expensive. - Lots of coworking spaces. - Some startup culture and quite a few meetups (pre-pandemic). - Polish women are beautiful. - Interesting history. Cons: - Not much of a nomad scene. - Coworking spaces have a rather corpor

  • Tenerife

I've spent a few months in Tenerife in 2020. I think it's the best of the Canary Islands for remote workers. The South has better weather and more touristy vibe, the North is colder but with more long-term people. Nomads seem to be living around El Medano, Puerto de la Cruz or Las Americas. Pros: - Lots of nomads. Seems to be a good solution for those who have to remain in EU timezones or just starting out they nomad journey and don't want to take too much risk. - Awesome weather. - Nature. Sur

  • Kathmandu

Kathmandu has frequent power outages as of December 2019 even though everyone says otherwise, as does Pokhara. The old outages are referring to the load shedding issue which were routine power outages for the majority of the day. Now power outages are not routine and can last unknown amounts of time, even the main (and only) airport loses power often. Buildings are unheated, water for showering is generally unheated or lukewarm, many houses get their water from urban aquifers which may be hea

Didn't plan to come to Zagreb, and so had no expectations. Turned out to be a lovely, liveable city, so much so that I extended my stay by several weeks! Contrary to some of the comments from a year ago, it is now very vegan friendly, cards are universally accepted, steady WiFi si abundant, and many other people are working from coffee shops. The city is very walkable, and more affordable than Split or Dubrovnik.
