Hi Maggie. What do you mean by this? As far as I know, you can’t exchange contact info using Airbnb PMs. So what is the reason of asking hosts about discounts when you can’t actually meet him/her unless you’ve officially booked?

Yea airBnB is overpriced in Prague, so ~ 50% off is fair.

I never liked P-3 … I lived whole time in P-7 which is ideal imo. Five minutes by tram to the Old/New Town, heaps of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets. Two parks close by, cheaper rents than P1/2/5.

Also if you like night clubs - and I mean real night clubs, not the dump for tourist in P1 than most of them is in P7 as well.

Forget craigslist, nobody uses it there. But definitely not a city that requires on-the-ground apartment hunting. Everyone, including their cat & dog is online

You may be required to pay bit more as rentals are usually for 6-12 months. Own room under 9k CZK is easy, but probably not in Prague 1. Anyway the public transport in Prague is dirt cheap, reliable and fast.

My wife prefers prague even though it’s super touristy. It’s small and easy to walk everywhere. Feels safe and magical. Budapest has amazing architecture but it’s more spread out, feels like a much bigger city, need to take buses or taxis around. Pricewise they’re about the same if you avoid the tourist stuff. I’d probably also vote for Prague, there’s some great old coffeeshops for working, a bigger digital nomad scene. Though the others have a point - summer is the worst time for tourists, so prague might get a little unbearable.

I’ve been to both. Budapest has a young college party atmosphere if you are looking for it and is more off the beaten path, but that won’t be true for much longer. I was absolutely taken away by the architecture of Prague, the public parks and beer gardens, and the sights. I really want to go back to Prague, much more so than Budapest.

I want to say Prague because I want to keep Budapest all for myself, but that would be doing you a huge disservice. GO TO BUDAPEST. Prague sucks a big one now, overcrowded, overpriced, not that nice. Go for a weekend to do the tourist stuff. Budapest is THE PLACE you need to be.

Me and a friend are headed to Budapest for June and July. I’ve never been to Prague before, but I think it’s considerably more touristy than Budapest. Budapest has more recently become somewhat of a hub for DNs in Europe, and I think there would be more chance of finding a good community there than Prague. Also, I’m English and the English are pretty well hated in Prague I believe for our terrible behaviour on stag/hen weekends that often take place there!

There’s a DN guide to Budapest available on Kindle which I’ve read and would recommend.

With whatever you choose - I would recommend booking accommodation sooner rather than later as everything will get booked up very fast in summer. We just booked our apartment for 2 months in Budapest as everyday I was looking I was finding less and less available, and with some increasing dramatically with the summer demand.

We booked out accommodation in Budapest via Airbnb, worked out about 700 euros a month for a 2 bed apartment in the city centre. Supposedly Airbnb is your best bet because landlords tend not to like short lets in Budapest and often want 2 months rent as security deposit.

Been hearing a lot of good things about being a digital nomad in Prague. Thought that it’s a bit pricey in there but my friend say otherwise. Gotta be my next destination in two years’ time, fingers crossed!

Why did you chose the city?
I’ve been here as a tourist a handful of times for <week and enjoyed it a lot. I wanted to see what it would be like to stay for a longer period of time (currently staying for ~1 month).

Did you like living and working in Prague? Why?
It’s still early, but I came for a week in September to scout out if I could find a coworking space that had a nice environment to be productive in. I ended up liking Locus (Vinohrady) and am back working here for the month. So far, so good. Weather could be a bit nicer, but I suppose that goes with the time of year and isn’t really a surprise. As for why Prague? Why not? It’s fairly inexpensive compared to much of western Europe. It’s fairly walkable city in the center and gorgeous. It has enough night life, bars, restaurants to be interesting after work.

What do you think would help you to enjoy it more?
Not really sure what the startup/tech scene is like here yet. Would love an easy way to tap into that world.

Were there some major problems?
Not yet. Let’s hope it stays that way.

What was your favourite spot to work from?
I’m working from Locus coworking space and enjoy it.

Did you meet some other nomads?
I met a few at Locus which wasn’t planned at all, but it’s a small world. Going to meet some more tonight as well in the center.

I’m currently working remotely out of Prague right now, about midway through of being here for 2 months.

Coming here was a factor of never being here before, being told it was an amazing city (from both friends, nomadlist, and other communities) and an affordable cost of living. It is an incredibly beautiful city with lots of great sights and views to explore. Staying outside of the tourist center in Prague 7, which I’m very thankful for. Much quieter yet still extremely convenient due to the excellent transit system. I’m also just a block away from my coworking place, Paper Hub.

Everything has been wonderful, my only complaint is that it has gotten quite chilly recently. And we were unprepared for that swing. I feel like it has been a great place to focus and get some work done. Lots to see, and have really enjoyed just doing it in small pieces instead of all at once.

I can’t wait for those segways to be banned though!
