Sarajevo is a hidden gem. I stayed 2 weeks in the city and I really enjoy the chill vibe. The city is safe and people are very friendly while happy to speak english. The city is small but you can find something new to do everyday. I would 100% recommend Sarajevo for an "exotic" for some days.

Absolutely loved it! The largest old city in the country, great souvenir shopping (loads of cat themes, good quality, better souvenirs then Budva and other places), loads of real cats, breathtaking views, very friendly local people, everything is super close. I find it difficult to understand what people see in this city. The cost to benefit ratio is just so terribly bad! This is by far the most expensive city in Europe (especially in terms of rent), with hardly anything to offer in comparision with other cities like Barcelona, Lisbon or Warsaw. This is a really cute little city with friendly people, high level of English and good prices. Restaurants were so-so, smoking everywhere which is terrible if you want to be able to eat your meal without choking on smoke, and bad air quality in winter. I don't know exactly how Barcelona is still considered safe but it's far from it. It's probably the most dangerous city to live in Madrid and one of the most dangerous in europe, with constant pick-pocketing and even violent crimes to get your wallet and phone in certain areas. Stayed for 2 weeks after almost a year n a half in LatAm. Beautiful city; great food options- especially for Asian food lovers. Lived in Prague for 8 years. It's a beautiful international European city. Never learned Czech, but was fine. Almost all cafes and restaurants have English menus. I've been hanging out in Berlin on and off for 30 years. It is very safe for women. It is much friendlier than it used to be. There are loads of vegan restaurants now. The nightlife and specially jazz clubs are amazing! I have an excellent apartment to rent out in Wedding - which used to have a boring reputation but now is very cool.
