How to find business partners as a nomad?

by @digital |  | 17 comments

Hi everyone,

Starting in May 2016, I’m taking a year and a half abroad to work and develop my online businesses. I’m making more than 10k dollars per month at the moment from mainly 2 revenue streams. It works well but we all know how things change fast online - that’s why I’m always looking to launch new businesses.

We all know how the team is important in each profitable business. That’s why I would like to meet other nomads to launch online projects together.

I’m more a digital marketing expert and have as well some web design + web development skills. My ideal vision will be to rent a house at 3 or 4 (a programmer, a designer, a marketer and an operations/sales expert for instance) and work together on new online projects (eCommerce, saas, or anything else that can be profitable). We can even be more in the house and would work on other/more projects. Because the team will probably be international, our projects can have a quick international scope (I’m French and I speak English and Spanish as well). We would change our location every 2/3 months to enjoy the nomad’s life

Do you find my proposition interesting? According to you, how can I improve it?
Or, do you know any other way to find business partners as a nomad?

Thank you very much for reading me,

Best,
D.

How is Istanbul for digital nomads?

in Istanbul, Turkey by @theunisk |  | 13 comments

I’m soon heading out on my first solo international trip as a remote worker.
I’m thinking of starting in Istanbul mid June, and slowly making my way up
north, staying a month or so in cities along the way.

Have any of you stayed in Istanbul for a couple of weeks or longer? Anyone there now?
For accommodation there seems to be some options on airbnb.

  • Which areas are good and which are best avoided?
  • Are there any useful local sites?
  • Would it be worth booking a place for a couple of nights and trying to find a good deal on the ground?
  • What would a good rate be for a room or small apartment for a one month stay?

A lot of questions here, I’d appreciate any bits of advice you can share!

Marrakesh December 2018. An amazing city with contrasts, modern and age-old wonders everywhere you look. Stayed near the main medina (pictured above) and that was a good location to see everything. Internet was good, and my tunnel service functioned fine. Weather is variable at this time of year... as a Canadian I had breakfast on a rooftop terrace at +1C and thought it was absolutely fine, but it also hit +27C later that day... dress in layers. Walk like you know where you are going and you'

  • Houston

In it's current iteration, Houston is a wide-spread, vehicle dependent city and would be a difficult place to exist as a Nomad without a vehicle. Downtown Houston was once a desolate cluster of office buildings that was abandoned at sundown. But now, downtown is currently undergoing a transformation and will soon (5~ years) make for an inhabitable and nomad friendly destination.

Housing is an issue (so cost of living is high) but the city is beautiful and summer in Amsterdam is hard to beat with all the cultural activiies and music festivals. Would not want to live in the actual city center (inside the "grachtengordel") but have been living in East for over 2 years now and aside from the price (and size) of apartment life is just good here. Biking everywhere is bliss. Winter can be cold though.

Many French people live here. They have restaurants, and bakery's and cater mainly for each other. But if you don't speak French, live is much harder. Taxi's have one price in the city and they are cheap. There is 1 Carrefour but the food there was often a bit off so check data. I stayed 3 months but there was not a lot to do. It is a small place with only a couple of bars for foreigners. The local people are quite nice and they don't bother you. And yes, it is a windy place. They have a nice me

  • Aberdeen

I studied in Aberdeen for a year and loved living there. The city has charm and is very walkable. It was easy to meet people from the university and through my student accommodation but could see it being difficult if you aren't attending university. It wasn't too expensive coming from the US and was manageable on a student budget. It is easy to catch a train to explore nearby cities. The train ride from Edinburgh to Aberdeen is very scenic and shows a cliffside view for the majority of the ride
