Very nice city, but as everyone says, a bit boring after awhile. It's comfortable and feels like the suburbs, with conveniences that you don't always find in SE Asian countries. Boring :-( Here for 2.5 months in summer. Puerto was supposed to be a nomad city, but I can't seem to meet them. Just 1-2 meetups that only 5+ people come to. A lot of lower middle class tourists. Santa Cruz has more to offer. La Laguna is nice for a day trip, but kinda dead too. Yes, there's beautiful nature and hikes, but people/community/city-wise not impressed at all.

Cool little town to live in and work from, I was there for 3 weeks in low season. Lots of great restaurants, cafes etc. Nice easy access to the beach, riverside and countryside. Nightlife is quieter, but if you don't care about that, it's great. The Hub coworking there is run by some super friendly people and the new location they are building looks like it should be fantastic..
