Overall, a pretty great place. Good restaurants and many breweries. Solid entertainment. It has all four seasons and lots of sunshine. Some homelessness issues downtown, like most cities.

I spent 4 months working here during summertime. It's one of the best summers I have ever had in my life. The city is just amazing and offers dozens of outdoor activities. There are so many different places such as parks, lakes, hills, mountains, beaches, etc. Also, you can feel the Californication vibe on every step. It's a fantastic little town - there are lots of tourists but there are many local joints and great spots with less people if you're willing to get out of the town square. I did not like it. The people are nice though. Palermo Hollywood and Soho are very walkable hipster neighborhoods, kinda remind me of the chill parts of Barcelona. Food is hit or miss. I've been to New Orleans plenty of time as a tourist, but this is my first time being a digital nomad and working down here for 3 weeks. Something about New Orleans always brings me back. Such a unique and one-of-a-kind place that while has gotten more expensive over the years, still is far more affordable than many places in the US. A lot of cheap good fun to have here and some amazing food. I will admit your safety factor will depend heavily on the area you're staying at.
