What sites do you use to find Coworking spaces?

by @richlitt |  | 5 comments

I have an issue where I recently had no plans for a week or two, and I wanted to work from a beautiful and good coworking space. However, I didn’t know which cities had the best coworking spaces, and ended up going back to a city I know has one (Ubud, in Bali).

Where do you find your coworking spaces?

What gear do you use for mobile wifi?

by @richlitt |  | 6 comments

I’ve got an iPhone 5s, which I have used to work remotely by tethering in Europe and in the States. I’m heading to SEA in a couple of weeks, and I’ll be getting a SIM card there - but should I buy something else, with better range, or for the local 3G connection there?

What do you use?

How do you work out and stay fit on the road?

by @christianbundy |  | 30 comments

I worked out a few times a week back home, but haven’t been able to figure out how to make it a part of my routine now that I’m living out of my backpack in hostels. I’ve always gone to gyms, but I’d be open to trying bodyweight exercises. I thought that I might be able to do bodyweight exercises in parks/etc, but the past few days in London have been wet and miserable and I can’t find the motivation to go do push ups in wet grass. Any advice?

Anyone tried Stripe Atlas to set up a U.S.-based company?

by @adrienbetweets |  | 16 comments

I just came across https://stripe.com/atlas and what they offer sounds too good to be true.

Has anyone used these services?

If yes, how was your experience? any cons?

Their claims are pretty high:

Atlas helps you incorporate a U.S. Delaware company in a couple of days. You just fill out a simple form; we generate the necessary paperwork and handle the rest.

Stripe Atlas opens a business bank account for you with Silicon Valley Bank, the world’s leading bank for tech companies. There’s no need to visit a bank branch in person to get set up.

Cherry on top:

Stripe Atlas entrepreneurs will have access to guidance on U.S. law and taxes from Orrick, the international tech law firm, and PwC, the global accounting firm. Every Atlas entrepreneur will be able to chat–for free–with a professional from PwC.

We set up a Stripe account that you can use to start accepting payments from customers in 100+ currencies right away. You can take advantage of the complete Stripe product suite, including Connect and Relay.

How do you organize cables in your backpack?

by @refuseillusion |  | 11 comments

I’m currently thinking of getting a packing cube and velcro binder after I used a GRID-IT organizer which couldn’t fit all my stuff in the end.
I know some use ziplock bags, but how durable is that? Won’t it just be one big mess of cable salad?

What’s your approach?

Any fast internet spots in Canggu or Ubud, Bali?

in Canggu, Indonesia by @mark_nagelmann |  | 5 comments

Looking for a connection I can work from, 2+mb/s would be awesome! Just leaving Seminyak, Bali and heading north to Canggu. I’m desparate for good internet so I can get some work done. I’m a programmer and need to download/upload ~200mb files on the reg. If you have any fast internet spots near Canggu or Ubud, you’d be helping a nomad out!

Are there many options for 'Unskilled' digital nomad work

Are there many options for ‘unskilled’ digital nomad work?
I’m looking to sustain myself on around US$1,000 a month whilst I train up skills.

Having spent a total of two weeks in London on two separate occasions and having lived in NYC for two years, both are among my favorite cities in the world. Londoners are quite internationally and ethnically diverse, and seemingly better educated and more intellectual than New Yorkers in aggregate. The city very clean with a stunning mix of modern and historic architecture, and arguably has Europe's best public transit in terms of signage, availability, cleanliness and general efficiency. I've been there in summer. I don't understand why the rate of walkability is bad, that is ridiculous. People are friendly and polite, if you want to find a job is easy, although opening a bank account to get your salary can take two months. There are plenty of coffees, restaurants and bars, often you need to book in advance (more if the weather is good), and they will rip you off. I knew this, and I went there with the plan of no-eating out, no coffee-out and no-party, but even the supermarket i

I've been living in SF since 2014 and I have to say Cost of Living is misrepresented. It's a lot more expensive now (2020) than posted. 1-bdr in center is $3,500-$4,000 + $200-$300 for parking + $100-$200 for utilities. Almost impossible to find month-to-month rent, so this is for 1-year lease. Coffee for two + a pastry is easily $20. Dinner for two never less than $50, unless it's fast food (+20% tips are expected) and if you want actually something good it's at least $100 for two. Airbnb is $1

Honestly, this is an awesome place to be if you're actually trying to get work done. It's a bit of an older vibe than Canggu, and there's certainly a big chunk of yogi's kicking around — but I liked it much better than Canggu and found it less pretentious. Plus, you can drive down there in 45mins whenever you want some beach or party vibes. As others mentioned, there's some great coworking spaces, cheap warungs, some really nice spots to stay cheaply if you go just outside of the mad tourist
