Honestly, it's pretty awful if you're trying to work. Only good for a one or two day tour with some beautiful street art and a couple museums. But I showed up and it really smells, is incredibly dirty, locals tell me it's dangerous and the wi-fi consistently cuts out. I was panning to stay in the area 3 days and instead leaving the day I arrived.

I guess if you're a nomad this doesn't matter much, but the long-term job pickings here are slim and among the most underpaid for a US city. There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.

Nomading here is tough because there are no reasonable Airbnbs and finding a short-term apt is difficult. You have to ask yourself, is it worth coming to Barcelona? It's probably the dirtiest city in Spain, and a bit sketchy. There's more beautiful and cleaner cities like Seville where you can find a reasonably priced Airbnb.

As a Dominican that lived over 25 years in Sto Dgo I have to say most of the comments are accurate. HOWEVER, Santo Domingo is the capital of the country. Just like most Capitals in Latin America (Mexico City being the exception), it's not worth visiting much time. If you want to experience what the Dominican Republic has to offer (Beaches, Nature, Friendly Locals) as a nomad I would recommend Las Terrenas or Cabarete.

Lima was fantastic. food was amazing and incredibly inexpensive. $3 lunches, $25 fine dinner restaurants. I had 100+mbs internet in the Airbnb. I preferred Barranco, which is artsy and more bohemian than the more-touristy Miraflores, but that's me. I know a lot of people like Miraflores for the restaurant life. I didn't go to any of the beaches but they looked great. watching the sunset over the ocean was a beautiful experience. I am already planning a return visit in June because I liked it so

Been to 29 cities in 6 months and I can say Rio is AMAZING. However not safe at all, by my first week I knew a total of 10 people that got robbed (3 groups). I've been living here for almost 1 month recharging from fast traveling and haven't been robbed.

If you have money, stay in Lomas. That's it. The other areas of the city which every Samantha, Bryan, and pink-haired person named Leaf have mentioned are all worth visiting and enjoying, but just stay in Lomas. Quiet, less population, no dust, and most importantly, you can avoid the broke Americans from Bushwick or WeHo who eat at Orinoco every night to save money.

I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

Just returned after 1mo in Madrid. From a Male 35 year old perspective, I loved it. Endless night life, techno clubs, dive bars, live music, open jam sessions if that's your thing. If you're feeling lonely hit up Meetup and you'll find plenty of international meetups/pub crawls. Retiro park is green and huge when you need a break from the city. Lived there last September and October and am coming back later this year. Yes, it is expensive, but after a while I learned about affordable places to eat and realized I could choose neighborhoods farther from city center, and it would still be nice. City feels super safe, even at nigh! Internet is crazy fast (I got 500mb on my airbnb) there are tons to do and see and I did not encounter the super rude Parisians people talk so much about, mostly everyone spoke English and were very polite. I've been hanging out in Berlin on and off for 30 years. It is very safe for women. It is much friendlier than it used to be. There are loads of vegan restaurants now. The nightlife and specially jazz clubs are amazing! I have an excellent apartment to rent out in Wedding - which used to have a boring reputation but now is very cool.
