Always on the Top Livable Cities List, but it really should be in the Top Boring Cities List. It's like a big town, and it's kind of stuck in the past. You really feel like you are in the South. Plenty of old people & Asian students. Normal - everyone moves to Sydney or Melbourne which are incredibly more fun and exciting.

Why? There’s not much traffic, beaches are amazing, there’s a significant Brazilian/Portuguese community around which reflects in ethnic restaurants pretty good and affordable. Surf culture is present, so the laid back lifestyle. Maybe it’s hard to find an actual “home”, I always prefer to stay in cheap guesthouses such as 3D Homestay, with a nice swimming pool. Enjoy the morning in the beach and catch the

Semiyak was my refuge from the crazy traffic, massive western crowds, mosquito attacks, and inflated prices of Canggu. Seminyak is not 'Balifornia' (Canguu), some will like it for that reason alone. Traffic can get clogged in Seminyak but it's still far better than Canggu. Seminyak is just as commercialized as Canggu, but in a different way. If you're familiar with NY, Canggu has east village or lower east side vibes, while Seminyak is more soho. Of course neither comes close to the actual N

Just returned to Europe from spending three weeks in Canggu and I can definitely not recommend it. It has changed a lot from the past but to sum it up here are some points: Pros: - high level of convenience - lots of places to eat (for vegans too) - plenty to do Cons - hygiene is bad - crowded as fuck - polluted as hell (air quality is bad) Wouldn't recommend coming here for longer. It's not really a community of its own, although that's changing as people move north from being priced out of the Canggu Airbnb market. Seseh is built mostly on "green land", or land zoned for nature use rather than commercial or residential use. For this reason, land is scarce and rentals are quite expensive, with some Airbnb properties exceeding $6000 USD/mo. There is an enclave of expensive Airbnbs next to Seseh Beach which has nice homes. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.
