I guess if you're a nomad this doesn't matter much, but the long-term job pickings here are slim and among the most underpaid for a US city. There seems to be a tacit rent floor that means you won't find a good deal on housing. A lot of people don't seem very invested in their interpersonal relationships here since their ties to the area are often transient.⭐️ All 💵 Cost 📡 😀 Fun 👮 Safety 0 40 Mbps ×
I've been to ~70 countries. Porto is my favorite city in the world. The people, the people, the people! It's the perfect size, well connected airport, vibrant and happening, amazing blend of locals and expats, and much cheaper than Lisbon. Looking to call this place home.⭐️ All 💵 Cost 📡 😀 Fun 👮 Safety 0 36 Mbps ×
Amazing city and underrated so far. But it'll become very popular at some point so take a chance to visit now. Amazing people, great and unique food, incredible nature, one f the biggest visa permits (365 days). On top of that you can open the company and pay 1% income tax as a freelancer.⭐️ All 💵 Cost 📡 😀 Fun 👮 Safety 0 10 Mbps ×
I cannot help but agree with the review from the person before me. I'm finishing my 3 weeks trip here, and something feels off. Like that person put it rightly, everything is for sale, and nothing has value. There is no soul to this city and its people, locals or otherwise. Something is wrong here.⭐️ All 💵 Cost 📡 😀 Fun 👮 Safety 0 26 Mbps ×
I really enjoyed my first week here, but as I got to know more locals and heard their stories, I was disturbed at the security situation. Almost everyone I met has horror stories about being robbed at gunpoint, robbed by the police, and in one case even drugged and robbed by a taxi driver. It's not even safe to walk a short distance at night (locals told me to just take Uber). Beyond the security issues, scams also abound, and the covid policy is wacky, with hand sanitizer being forced on you ev⭐️ All 💵 Cost 📡 😀 Fun 👮 Safety 0 11 Mbps ×
Chiang Mai used to be N.1 for the digital nomad life. It is still great and you can find really cheap apartments (300-400$) and restaurants (2-3$ for a main). Wouldn't recommend staying there during the burning season. The best area is Nimman, but it's also the most expensive. You can stay in the old city that's very nice but that gets noisy during the weekend for the night markets. Last but not least, very safe city. All in all would go back in a heartbeat.⭐️ All 💵 Cost 📡 😀 Fun 👮 Safety 0 24 Mbps ×
