I stayed here for 4 months. Very beautiful city, vibrant, lots of things to do and moving around is so easy compared to other "big" capitals. 100% agree with other comments about Hungarians: very stern, unfriendly people. The hospitality workers in restaurants, bars & clubs are mostly horrendous. It's like they don't want to serve you, and it's you who has to make the effort or should be grateful to be eating there. It makes zero sense, I've never seen that in any other place in the world. Bounc

Accommodation is cheap, and you can get mobile data plan in every convenience store. It's also quite safe - local girls aren't afraid to walk alone after dawn. Just don't bother drunk people in front of the bar and you will be fine. Also if you didn't take some 1-2 day tours to nearby places you're missing out: Wieliczka, Energylandia, Zakopane, Auschwitz. All in, Austin is a good city. We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. Not too expensive (~$2100 for a nice 2 bedroom apt) for the U.S. Has wineries and breweries galore. Not a great place if you are a recovering alcoholic (!). Cons: extremely hot in the summer; reaches 110 F (43.3 C) in summer afternoons from June - September. Not very diverse. Highways are loud and obnoxious.

Was in Split for September and early october. I went to spend time bouldering over the sea, swimming and having pleasant walks around Marjan Park, which i did. For that it was perfect. The city is also a great place for a nice date and to meet a handful of other nomads. End of summer i feel is probably the best time unless you really want the tourists and the busy nights
