December 2022: Nairobi is a city less walkable than Bangkok, worse infrastructure than the Eastern European province, a non-service culture that would rival Germany, WiFi & 3G/4G like in rural Kyrgyzstan (the kind of where you walk with your phone in your stretched out hand)โ€ฆ. All of that you get for almost US-level prices. Nah, I didnโ€™t have a good time. It feels utterly derelict and careless. Zero things to do except paying through your nose for Safari stuff. Great city if you come here as a tourist But after one month here it has not been my best experience The city is dirty and peoples don't talk great english but defenitively some nice place to visit like the egyptian museum or the museum of cinema and also the muntain are not that far away. For thr price it's not the best blace to go unless you absolutely want to learn italian. And gosh try not to be run over by cars there.

Pros: - I loved the inejra - Weather was nice - The home country for my parents, so it felt nice being able to just blend in, compared to living in western countries. - The USD goes a long way Cons: Coming from a western perspective, life in here in Addis Ababa is just unnecessarily difficult. Day to day things are filled with an absurd amount of inefficiencies that I often wonder how things get done at all. - The pedestrian infrastructure is completely lacking with uneven sidewalks & lack

Very culturally enriching. The architecture, the history, the food, the customs of the people. It's also very cheap. Nightlife is good but it ends up very early. Also, public transportation is chaotic.

  • Kigali

Spent 2 months in Kigali and criss-crossed the country from there as my base. Pros: friendly people in the city (not so much in the far North rural areas of Rwanda if you travel on your own near Virunga). Clean air. A few good restaurants. Safe in the city (Kigali), even at night. Amazing wildlife and scenery/landscapes if you get a place with a good view and some nature around. Government entities have their sh*t straight more than many other nations. Average internet. Stable power grid. Cons:

  • Kampala

I love Kampala! I have been coming here since 10 years now as a digital nomad. I am here a few times a year. I have been in 20 countries in Africa and would say it is the most friendly one. Kampala is definitely a lot of fun and has good restaurants and the rest of Uganda is beautiful too. I host several times a year coworking and co-living experiences for digital nomads in Uganda. You are more than welcome to join us.

  • Cairo

I stayed in Cairo for a week as a solo female (21 years old). I was followed a lot and cat-called / asked for a 'view' or a kiss every 5 minutes even though I was completely covered up, so this is definitely not a place for the faint hearted. It was never with malicious intent though (no one forced themselves on me or even tried to mug me), the culture is just very different than western culture. Whilst they're pushy, they won't do anything unless you let them. It took a couple of days for me to
