Generally favorable on Antalya, but not perfect. The weather was excellent (~26 C almost every day) and the nature of the city is absolutely stunning. The mountains on the west side of the city seem to just explode out of the ocean and it's special to see. That said, the built environment is pretty uninspiring. The center of the city is full of interesting restaurants and shops, but outside of the old town it's not very exciting to look at. My primary complaint, however, is on public transit. It

Istanbul was a terrible experience for me, and in more ways than one. 99% of people do not speak a single word of English, which makes every interaction exhausting. It does not help that Turkish people are short-tempered and get frustrated pretty quickly. Ubers are annoying, they keep canceling on you and it makes going somewhere such a hassle. Regular taxis are notorious for being scammers. Even an Uber driver tried to scam me by asking me to pay by cash even though I was already paying by

Bodrum is an overpriced (central) but quite beautiful (surrounding villages/quays) place, mainly made up of the retirement residences of educated rather educated, secular population. There are amazing quays in driving distance that wouldn't be any different than beautiful coasts of Bali or Thailand.

You'll be surprised how people are welcoming. Food is the best thing. Everything is cheap. But consider govt is religous, woman have to wear hijab. I think safety is not that bad, just don't go outside very late, there isn't night life there at all and watch out when you use your mobile in street. Before going there, get a vpn subscription from ExpressVpn (it works great), without vpn internet is nearly useless. It's a great place for a short visit, but not recommended for a long time stay. So/so. Is not a bad place to live. Standard of living is really high, apartments are amazing as well. There is basically any kind of cuisine you can think of. Great (and expensive) nightlife. 0% taxes is great if you are willing to go through the hoops. Cons: Is oppressively hot during summer. You need a car to get around or spend absurd amounts monthly on taxis. It might get really expensive but you can definitely save by buying smart. I would be back as a tourist but not for remote working on

Iโ€˜ve spent a couple of days in Batumi in Sep. โ€˜21. First the cost of living is waaay lower than what nomad list says. You can rent a nice serviced apartment with sea view for 29โ‚ฌ/Day. People barely speak english in Batumi and there is not a lot going on (compared to Tbilisi). It is a nice place, if you want to live very cheap, safe, enjoy sea views and like modern buildings. However keep in mind, it is a small city, so there is not a lot going on.

The city is quite pleasant. There are some good streets to walk. It never feels crowded, except the most touristic areas. Architecture is interesting (but nothing to write home about) in a small touristic area, outside of it it's mostly ugly Soviet-era apartment blocks and ramshackle small houses. A couple of years ago the city was cheap, but now it's more expensive than many European cities and Asian capitals. When it was cheap, it was nice to stay there despite its drawbacks. Now it is very q
