  • Sรฃo Paulo

I like Sรฃo Paulo, but I don't love it. It's pretty boring in my opinion. Probably because I love Buenos Aires so much and it just does not compare. Also for the 4 months (September - January) I was there, it was cold, overcast, and rainy 85% of the days. It was pretty depressing! Other than that, it's pretty safe overall for Latin America. Also, I really appreciate how people here take COVID more seriously than in a lot of other places in Brazil. If I had to do it again, I would stay near

  • New York City

I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

  • Paris

Paris is wonderful, and I love it here, but the stereotypes some real truth to them. I stepped off the plane to a protest, my airbnb host was incredibly stylish yet didn't wear deoderant, and I met the rudest waiter I've ever encountered in my entire life on day 3 (though most Parisians are super nice!)

  • Santiago

Maybe Iโ€™m a bit unfair here, but Santiago is so... boring. People donโ€™t look so happy and arenโ€™t welcoming, city has nothing special, currency with so many zeros is hard to get used... didnโ€™t have a bad time, but it wasnโ€™t great either. Just dull. Maybe Iโ€™m wrong and in a long term it worth it, but it lacks authenticity and donโ€™t even compare to other cities in Latin America such as Mexico City or even Buenos Aires, both cheaper and funnier.

Initially I didn't like Madrid. People don't speak english well and people seem very dry. After spending a month there, my opinion changed. People in Madrid are more formal and it reminds me of the wrong impression people get of Parisians. The dining scene is very developed with a ton of options. The only complaint I have had over the years with Madrid is how late people eat. It's truly absurd and I hope COVID might help to change that for good. There are not a lot of places to work from, there are not many cafes. The city is not so fun, but the city is close to great dunes and beaches. The sitances are relatively long and since its always very hot it is not ideal to walk. My score would be nomad score would be 2.

  • Berlin

Berlin is overall a great city to be. Food is cheap and everywhere, easy to go out and have fun/meet for business. Rent has crept up but still far better value than where I came from. Internet: 36 EUR/month get me 450/40 mbps (cable -> DOCSIS 3.0) Public transport is 2.70 EUR/ticket. No woman I know has said they felt unsafe. Some really odd, xenophobic sounding comments on here. Biggest downsides IMO: service quality at restaurants - not that people are rude, but they don't seem to particular

  • Mexico City

I'm the one who left the review complaining about how people don't speak English 2-3 months ago. I think it's only fair to leave another review as I projected a pretty negative overall picture of the place. I came back a second time and boy, I'm glad I did. The language barrier didn't disappear, but I came with a different mindset and made efforts to learn some basic Spanish. Being able to explain how you want your coffee even makes a huge difference. Mexican people are kind and warm-hearted.
