Sao Paulo is a place of high contrasts. Massive buildings, roads, and road rage co-exist with peaceful parks, fantastic skies, and very kind locals. Before you go, make sure you have the right expectations because this place is the South American equivalent of LA or NYC. It is absurdly different from Rio as far as the activities and landscape. Some of my favorite things are the 20,000+ restaurants and bars, people watching (more contrast), free art museums and attractions, and the fantastic co-w

Paris is wonderful, and I love it here, but the stereotypes some real truth to them. I stepped off the plane to a protest, my airbnb host was incredibly stylish yet didn't wear deoderant, and I met the rudest waiter I've ever encountered in my entire life on day 3 (though most Parisians are super nice!)

  • New York City

I've lived in New York City - Brooklyn - for over 20 years. For visiting tourists, the best neighborhood to stay in is NOT Bushwick. Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Ft. Green or Brooklyn Heights is preferable. Plenty of good transportation in those areas - subway, buses or Uber. Easy access to beaches in Long Island and New Jersey. There's plenty to do in NYC. Great restaurants, Broadway plays (!), and in the summer you frequently can catch a free concert.

There are not a lot of places to work from, there are not many cafes. The city is not so fun, but the city is close to great dunes and beaches. The sitances are relatively long and since its always very hot it is not ideal to walk. My score would be nomad score would be 2.

I lived in Santiago for a year and I can confidently say that it is THE most boring place I´ve ever been to. It´s super expensive, the air quality is very bad, terrible food (I can´t stress that enough) and very boring and welcoming people. I don't see any reason why anybody would go there as an expat or digital nomad, tbh.

  • Barcelona

Best city in Spain. Weather is great even in December and the clubbing scene is fun. There's lots to do and it's a beautiful city overall. You have to watch out for pickpockets but as long as you aren't leaving things unattended or obviously in your pockets you'll be fine. If you're into hostels, Hostel One Paralelo is BY FAR the best hostel in the area, worth every penny. Will definitely be back, and I never say that.

  • Madrid

Favorite city in the entire world and honestly people who prefer Barcelona to it just simply did not do Madrid right. This city has everything you could possibly want in a city (besides a beach of course). So safe, amazing transportation all over the city and country, amazing location to travel easily and cheaply to the rest of Europe. Restaurant and nightlife scenes are unparalleled as someone else said in another comment. Did you know Madrid has more bars per capita than anywhere in the world?

  • Berlin

Berlin is overall a great city to be. Food is cheap and everywhere, easy to go out and have fun/meet for business. Rent has crept up but still far better value than where I came from. Internet: 36 EUR/month get me 450/40 mbps (cable -> DOCSIS 3.0) Public transport is 2.70 EUR/ticket. No woman I know has said they felt unsafe. Some really odd, xenophobic sounding comments on here. Biggest downsides IMO: service quality at restaurants - not that people are rude, but they don't seem to particular

  • Mexico City

I stayed in La Condesa and it was a beautiful neighborhood filled with trees and dogs on a leash of various breeds. Restaurant culture is pretty strong. The best poke bowls I ever had is in here.

  • Santiago

I lived in Santiago for a year and I can confidently say that it is THE most boring place I´ve ever been to. It´s super expensive, the air quality is very bad, terrible food (I can´t stress that enough) and very boring and welcoming people. I don't see any reason why anybody would go there as an expat or digital nomad, tbh.
