This city is not for everyone, if you like shopping malls and big crowded cities it is for you. It may be cheap but if you want to live in a good location with swimming pool, go to nice rooftops and restaurants, use taxis then it is similar cost to western countries. In many areas there are no sidewalks, big and dangerous traffic all the time, pollution, taxis do not want to go with meter, it can get really hot. Definitely try to live by the metro. Definitely worth visiting but not particularly attractive as a remote work destination. I can't think of anything Seoul does better than other Asian cities outside of just being cool because it's South Korean (and I don't mean that sarcastically at all, South Korea is a very cool place). But again, do visit.

I quite liked Zagreb. People are fairly warm, and it's charmingly laid out. Lots of good cafes and restaurants, and the center is pretty walkable. As someone else said there are the commie block vibes, but those are in more peripheral neighborhoods. I felt it was safe, and had no issues getting around by tram mostly. Budapest was on my list about cities for living. I stayed for 7 days and was a little disappointed People are not very friendly, lots os places very dirty, people smoke a lot and the costs isn't affordable as people indicated here. Its a beautiful place, walkable, people have a good level of education, lots of things to do, but not as i imagined. Even so its a nice place.

All in, Austin is a good city. We live in Hill Country now so we're a bit removed. But it's beautiful area once you get away from the highways. A good tech scene. Not too expensive (~$2100 for a nice 2 bedroom apt) for the U.S. Has wineries and breweries galore. Not a great place if you are a recovering alcoholic (!). Cons: extremely hot in the summer; reaches 110 F (43.3 C) in summer afternoons from June - September. Not very diverse. Highways are loud and obnoxious.

“Don’t take your phone out” is some outdated advice… there are several people on the streets and in the metro using phones and taking pictures. Remember that nothing stays the same forever. Rio is safer than many people describe. Use your common sense.

Groningen is easy going but very international. Due to it's kind of "remote" location (well, Amsterdam is only 2 hrs. away) it's an island one its own with lots to do here: culture, nightlife (véry late!) but also a lot of beautiful quiet nature in the surroundings, You take a bike and you are in the middle of nowhere in just 15 minutes: lakes, woods in the south, or at the northside of the city: beautiful endless tyoical dutch landscapes with lots of famous black and white frisian cows, mills

I've been here 2 years now. I pay for internet at 3 seperate places (home, office, 2nd apartment on seaside) I pay about $20 USD / month for 300Mbps/300Mbps at each of the 3. Internet here is super cheap, reliable and fast.

One of my favorite cities in Europe, only "con" is the cold, but you already know that coming into Iceland.

Bali for grownups. It's perfectly safe. I could walk in 95% areas of Floripa at night with my phone taken out without any feeling of danger. Safer than Rio, for sure. All types of water sport and hikes are available here, so it's a good place for people who are into nature. Place isn't very trendy and service sometimes isn't that good but it's getting there. I've been in Malta for approx 7 months now. And it's quite mediocre. It really feels like a car centric dystopia with absent of trees and way to much construction towards the european classical colorless Bauhaus minimalist architecture that slowly will kill peoples soul (Which is really sad because the classical buildings in Malta is quite beautiful and characteristic). East Timor is a beautiful country if you travel from Dili to Beaco it's some of the most beautiful scenery i have ever seen. Dili isn't the prettiest cities, lots of poverty. Internet is the worst, and your roaming mobile service will not work. even if you get a local sim - it's v.unreliable. I was stressed out trying to find good internet to work here with my job

I live in Mt view own a car and my home, all paid for, I have solar power and rainwater harvest those are the major expenses here. If you can do that, life here is cheap! What with growing some food hunting and fishing, $600 a month goes a long way here. On the down side there’s a lot of poverty, property crime and not much to do culturally and if your single….. good luck you’ll have little prospect here

If you can go elsewhere - go elsewhere. Unless you have a family, the country has absolutely no selling point for single people. High taxes, no benefits, boring people, back office jobs, nothing to do. Eveything is very expensive and bad quality. Salaries have also gone down in recent years. On the there hand great place to have a family.
