Pretty cool city, BKK1 and BKK3 are nice areas to stay in. Check out Suzy Anti-cafe and Workspace1 in Factory for neat places to work from. It's a busy city, but lots of great places to eat and hang out. Internet was stable and fast enough overall. I got a SIM from SMART for a few bucks that had 44GB of data for the month, $5 to renew it. Used "Ask Kim" visa agent to renew my tourist visa for 30 days, super easy to do and friendly.

Tokyo has so much to offer and so much to do. It is easily overwhelming. Whereas I usually take my first week to explore a place Tokyoโ€™s sights just kept on going. I remember ending up in a hidden cocktail bar, a mexican rooftop party with 1 meter margaritas, spending a whole day going only to French places(?), visiting a store that only imported 2nd hand hiphop apparel, and throughout it all the best michelin star ramen. It just seemed endless, completely unrelated and incredibly fun. Six wee

I love Chiang Mai for obvious reasons: Cheap, culture, food, and great people. Love it! :) My only con: It's super hot and humid. I can't deal with that amount of humidity personally. Maybe something to look out for people who can't do well with high humidity level. For me: Great for 1-3 months but not the whole year.

I've been in Phuket for about a month now. Most of that time I've spent in Ka Ron and Kata beach area, but also have been to Chalong, Pa Tong, Rawai, and Kathu. Karon and Kata beaches are my favorite. Beaches are beautiful, especially Karon. Overall most everything is reasonably priced, but not the bargain I was told it is. I eventually found a hotel I like, where I pay 12-13 euro per night (below 500 baht atm) and that is by far the lowest I found for the quality I expect. Considering the loc

  • Ko Samui

We have been living here for 18 months, really love it, it took a while for the island to recover from Covid but general economic activity is back to say 60-70% now and we have two groups for digital nomads (meet monthly or so at various locations) and one for tech startups (Startup Samui on fb meets weekly) plus a few small coworking spaces and friendly cafes for nomads popping up. Our living costs are about $600/month for rent two bedroom+ house near beach and about the same again for food and

Beautiful island. For me it hits a sweet spot combining some of Canggu and Ubud. There's good stuff like breath work and ecstatic dance close by but you don't have to scooter a whole hour to get there. It's not too hippy and you can easily avoid that vibe if you're not into it. The mountainous landscape makes for some lovely scootering - so nice that I've taken a few rides just for the pleasure of it. The bigger roads are lit at night and pretty good, not much traffic. "Off the record, however, they told of an island held in the iron grip of a mafia family, who demanded protection money, controlled the local police force and were not above attacking or burning down the homes and businesses of people that crossed them" I don't think Koh Tao is dangerous in terms of absolute risk. Many tourists pass through, and not that many got murdered (under a dozen over several years, as far as I know, some cases might really be suicide). Riding a motorbike anywhere in Tha

I like Siem Reap, I like Cambodia. The whole city here has a "Large Village" feel. Wi-Fi here is pretty decent and a lot more stable than other places in the region I have tried, meaning connections won't always randomly drop. The whole country of Cambodia feels like it's a country heading in the right direction. I walk around, I see shops and eateries that have actual local Cambodian/Khmer people inside them enjoying them. I walk around, yeah, I'm getting random solicits for a ride but no one i

Great city in Southern Taiwan on a major port. Lots of stuff to do if you like the outdoors. A mountain to climb, a beach to go to, and trains and buses readily available to go to surrounding outdoor activities. Cons: English speaking is not great, but the locals are. And even if you don't speak Mandarin they will do their best to help you. Plenty of English speaking doctors, dentists etc. Most restaurants have a double menu. So it's not that big of a con and there are many classes that will h
